I woke to the sound of a running sink. I forced my eyes to open. My shoulder still hurt like crazy, but I didn't feel a pool of blood around me. Which was good. I was still alive. Which was good. I didn't know where I was. Which was less good.
The world stilled seemed a little fuzzy, but hey. I wasn't dead. I stared at the blank ceiling for what seemed like an eternity, before I finally decided to move. I took in a short gasp of breath and forced myself to sit up. Pain coated my body, attacking everything in its path. I let out a few steady breaths and continued. When I finally propped myself up, I looked around the room. I was sitting on top of a large bed, with dark blue bed sheets, but I had been lying on layers upon layers of towels. Most likely because of the blood.
The room was small and cave-like, with a small bookshelf decorating the right half of the room, and a door on the left. Underneath the door, the light was present. Which seemed good. But it could also be bad. So I had mixed feelings about that. Close to the bed, was another door that leads to who knows where. That's when it hit me. I'm in someone's house. I needed to escape. But all I could really do was move my head. I opened my mouth to say something but immediately shut it as I saw the door on the left handle's turn. Panic flew at me like a bullet. The door swung open. Reed poked his head in the doorway. I didn't know whether to be relieved or worried. He saw that I was awake, and a smile covered his face.
"Thank Orion you're not dead" That's when it all flooded back to me. He helped me. This moron of a person helped me. I must've looked like a fool because he had concern all over his face.
"W-what?" I blinked. He entered the room and sauntered over to the foot of the bed. He stood a reasonable distance away from me, which made me feel a little more comfortable.
"U-Um is this your... Your house?" I asked hastily.
"Uh... Yeah, I brought you here the other day..." He said smoothly.
"The... The other day?" I breathed.
"You've been out for like two days...I was worried you were dead" He laughed.
"Why didn't you take me to the doctor's place? I bet they have one here. They have everything else.." I muttered.
" Well, because I panicked. I also didn't exactly trust the knowledge those kids have about medicine." He explained.
"I guarantee you they knew more than you" I frowned, now kind of pissed.
"The least you could say is thank you. I could've left you to die." Reed frowned.
"But I didn't. SO at least you could say an 'Oh thanks for saving my life back there even though you didn't have to!"
"Thank you then!" I hissed.
"You're very welcome!" He spat back.
I glared at Reed, straight mad at this point. I wanted to throw something at him, but that wouldn't be the smartest idea I've had before. After the glaring started to feel awkward, Reed turned away, now facing his back towards me.
"What happened the night you were injured? I never really picked up on anything..." I thought for a moment and did my best to remember that horrifying night.
"..So I fell asleep...When I woke up, there was someone outside of the cell. But it wasn't you... I assumed you had taken a break or something... That's when I saw the knife. He entered the cell and stabbed me in the shoulder... He said something someone, I wasn't paying attention to his words. I had bigger things to worry about. That's when I called you. It looked like he was going to stab me again, but that's when he heard you and ran." I answered gently, that small bit went on repeat in my head, each moment more terrifying than the last.
