Infinite Storm

Chapter 7

"Duck!" Raven shouted. Cliff did as he was told as a huge paw swung right above his head, missing him by just a few inches.

"Raven," Cliff said, "I'll distract the tiger while you take your time and heal. We'll switch after that."

"Got it," Raven said with a nod.

The Shadow Knight lifted his heavy sword and swung. The Shadow Lord let out a deafening roar and swiped with his large paw. The two battled, sword versus claws.

"Cliff!" Raven took her dagger and jabbed one of the beast's leg. It let out a shriek of agony, then changed its focus onto her.

Cliff's HP had dropped down to yellow from fighting the cubs previously, and he used this opportunity to step back and heal.

Meanwhile, Raven was dodging the enemy's scratches when she received a nasty surprise. The tiger swung its tail and hit Raven with incredible force, sending her flying to the other side of the cave. She groaned in pain as her body dropped to the hard ground.

Cliff immediately stopped healing and slashed the tiger before it could do anymore harm to Raven.

The tiger glared at him. Furious, it gave Cliff a lethal bite in the shoulder, his HP dropping to yellow. He groaned then quickly jabbed the tiger several times, causing it to flinch.

"Perfect chance," he muttered. "Midnight Illusion!"

The Shadow Knight held his cape and whipped it towards his front, confusing the tiger. He rushed to Raven's side while it was still dazed.

"Raven, are you alright?" Cliff asked with concern.

"I'm very fine," she tried to stand up, but then lost her balance and dropped back down.

Cliff looked over to her HP bar. "You're poisoned."

"Dang!" Raven cursed. "There were some spikes on the tail. They must have caused it."

"You should rest."

"I still can fight, Cliff. It's just poison."

"We have no poison-healing potions. You're in no condition to fight."

"But I can't let you challenge it alone."

"Don't underestimate my skills, young woman. When I was level 30 I defeated this dude with only two others. At this level, I can handle it alone." Cliff looked back at the tiger, which seemed to have just snapped out from its confusion. "I better go now."

"Cliff," Raven grabbed his hand, "be careful. Don't get hit by its tail."

"You can count on me," Cliff said with a grin.

The Shadow Knight dashed with full speed at the tiger. It swung its huge tail at the warrior, trying to poison him. But his reflex saved him. He jumped up high, then landed perfectly on the beast's head. Cliff thrusted his sword while the tiger desperately tried to shake him off. He watched as the boss' HP drop to yellow.

"Cliff, watch out! Behind you!" Raven warned.

Cliff didn't have to be told twice. Without even looking back, he leaped high into the air and did a stunning backflip.

"Great! The skill is ready again," he exclaimed. While in the air, he spoke," Apocalyptic Maelstrom!"

The Knight of Destiny began to spin in mid air, then dropped down to the opponent, damaging it. In a flash, it had only a few hundred HP remaining.

Cliff, thinking that it was over, let his guard down, and returned his weapon to its strap. But the tiger was still able to attack. It roared, then pounced towards him. When he looked back, it was already too late.
