She peered above the forest wall
And stopped. And gaped. She had never known
There were other stories told beyond
Where girls had black hair, or brown
On black or brown skin. Or red, or yellow
Colours she had seen before
But realised she'd ignored. She reached
Out and tested the forest wall
Climbed shakily over it, then leaped
Into other worlds, and met
Their stories and their people.
