Lena's POV
----------
Kara caught me off guard. I had no idea that she was going to come over, but I'm glad she did. That woman means the world to me. She'd give anything to keep me out of harms way, and I'd quite happily do the same for her. She's the sweetest, most caring soul I've ever met.

I appreciate all of her help, but she did a crap job at cleaning up. The floor was still riddled with little green and white shards. I would've called some staff to bring me up a vacuum cleaner, but I didn't want them to ask what happened. Accidents are bound to happen, so I always keep wet wipes and a dustpan and brush close by. In the bottom drawer of the desk, near my office doors, is where I keep all of that stuff. As they say though, 'out of sight, out of mind'. I completely forgot to ask Kara if she'd rather use the brush to sweep up the glass. Come to think of it, she did it all with her hands! Now I feel awful... I shouldn't have had that wine, it's making me forgetful.

I walked over to the white desk to collect the wipes and brush. Mind you, there wasn't much to clean up. I probably sound critical, saying she did a crap job. Really, she didn't. She did a near impeccable job for that matter. I bent down onto my hands and knees, being mindful of the sharp shards, and went about sweeping up the last few pieces. The wine wasn't much of a chore to clean up either. A few wipes and all the red splats were gone. The desk could be wiped over too, but my lovely cream rug was another story. By now, the wine had enough time to stain the fabric. That's not exactly a job I can do by myself. I'll have to call someone in to get that washed.

Kara was a big help though, in more respects than just cleaning up. She always knows how to calm the seas of my stormy mind. I really should get something to thank her with, for when I next see her. In that moment, I remembered that Kara had actually got me something! She said she left it by the couch that we were sat on earlier. I'm surprised I didn't notice it when I went to grab the wet wipes.

Wandering over to pick it up, I turned, only to notice a tall, dark figure, standing under the door frame. This time, it wasn't Kara. It was James. I tried to ignore his presence, as I picked up Kara's gift.
"What do you want Mr. Olsen?" I huffed, walking back to my desk with the gift.

"I left this morning without my phone. I wondered if you'd seen it around?" he asked, unsuspectingly.

The phone was resting on my desk. As I sat down in my office chair, I slid the phone to the edge of the desk so that he could collect it.
"It's here. You left it on the table by the sofa last night."
I tried to make myself look busy by fumbling with a pen and some paper. I was hoping that he'd keep the conversation to a minimum. I remembered that Kara told me not to talk to him, but when he's standing right here in my office, there's not much I can do. I figured he'd come looking for his phone after he finished fucking that other girl. I just hoped that it wouldn't be so soon.

As if he wasn't aware, his lips threw out the words "you good, Lena?"
I fucking snapped, right there and then.

"Yes Jimmy, I am a-okay! I'm bloody fine, swell, maybe even splendid! NO. OF COURSE I'M NOT FUCKING GOOD, JAMES. YOU REALLY THINK I WOULDN'T FIND OUT AT SOME STAGE?!"

"Lena, what do you me-" I cut him off. Whatever he had to say wasn't important.

"What do you mean my ass, Jimmy. You honestly think you could leave your fucking phone in my office and expect me not to look through it?! You're a real dumb fuck aren't you? You've been fucking some other girl, you've been doing it for weeks!"
Suddenly, everything made sense. He was constantly out or away, he could never go on dates with me when I asked, he was always cancelling. Now I know why. It's all because of that other girl. She took priority, not me.

"Look Lena I-"

"FUCKING SHUT UP! I don't give a shit about what a cheating bitch like you has to say."
He hastily paced over to my desk to grab his phone back, but I snatched it from his reach.
"I have all the proof on this James. I've read it over and over. You have nothing to hide, so don't you dare try to take your phone back and pretend like you're oblivious to what you've done."

"Lena, give me my phone back." he asked in a stern tone.
He was clearly agitated and at discomfort. He knew he'd been exposed because there was a look to his face. I could see the guilt, trying to be masked with a calm and collected composure.

"Just give it up James! I know what you were trying to do. You knew I would lash out and act up. You just wanted to expose me as the true Luthor that I am. But guess what Jimmy? I am so much better than you will ever be. I don't need you in my life. Nobody needs a toxic piece of shit like you." I spat, through the grit of my teeth.
"Consider your ass lucky that I didn't message that other girl. I bet she doesn't even know that you're cheating!"

He asked once more for his phone, to which I replied with a firm 'no'. I could tell that he wasn't going to play games. I just wasn't sure how long this back and forth would last before one of us lashed out. He took a few steps closer to me. I wanted him to back off.
"James, I swear to God, I will fucking smash your phone if you dare take another step towards me."

Before I had a chance to react, his whole body flung at me with full force. He clasped onto my hand like a vice grip. Clenching my wrist tightly, he tried to force the phone out of my hand. He snarled as he tugged my arm back and forth, making me lose my grip. His eyes aligned with mine, and in that moment, a fire consumed his gaze. I could see the pure hatred in his eyes as he battled to get his phone back.

Slowly, but painfully, the sensation in my left arm grew weaker. I gulped.
That's when I realised that I was in big trouble...
