Finally...

Alright, so, I found my notebook, and I can finally post the story idea/headcanon-thing.

This came straight from my notebook, so most of it hasn't been edited.

- modern!AU and there was just a dance class or something and everyone's tired, and Matthias is driving and then they pick up Kaz, who had been at a meeting (?) until really late (so had they) and he hadn't really slept for like, three days before because it was a big meeting so he just staggers in and collapses in the backseat

- with Inej

- because Reasons

- since this is a totally self-indulgent AU, we're going to say that he's opened up a bit already and is better with touching as long as it's not direct skin

- and he falls asleep eventually, during the perhaps-a-bit-too-long-to-be-accidental drive 

- and he's all curled up with his head on the car door and his leg stretched out between the front seats, and he looks so... tiny and cute when he's asleep like this and Jesper snaps a billion pictures for framing, showing Nina, and later blackmail and Inej can't resist and just gently strokes his hair

- she also makes Jesper mute his phone to not wake Kaz up

- Once they get to the house, there's the little issue of getting him inside without wakig him up

- they argue for a while

- Then Jesper goes in and gets Nina 

- Who makes noises of shock and amazement, as expected

- They argue about it more and he wakes up

- But like not completely, he's still pretty sleepy

- *cough cough* from the drugs Inej slipped into his water bottle to make him sleep *cough cough*

- he yawns

- Nina and Jesper take many, many pictures

- he blinks a couple times and glares at them

(Anyone wonder where Matthias is? He's sitting in the driver's seat with his head on the wheel, trying not to gawk at Kaz like an idiot who's never seen a sleepy demon before and regretting all his life choices)

- but he's so cute and messy that that the effect bounces off

- he gets up, gets his cane, and walks into the house

- "Inej, delete all those pictures."

- Once he's inside, Inej turns to Nina, holding out her hand

- "Give me your phone and I'll get them printed."

- Nina hands over the phone

(this is a Modern AU, so we're going to say that wesper has a two-story house [Kaz got the room on the ground floor at the insistence of everyone else] and that's where this takes place)

- Inej promptly scales the side of the house, gives a cheery wave, and crosses to the building across the street with the tripwire she set up, disappearing over the roof

- Kaz didn't see any of this

- he was trying not to fall asleep at his desk

- Not very successfully, either

- When Inej returns to the house, arms full of photos, she finds Kaz slumped over his desk, dozing

- rather than waking him up, she drapes a blanket over him and moves any sharp objects away from his head

- then she takes a picture

- and heads upstairs to Nina's room to return the phone and deliver the photos

Bonus headcanon:

- Inej framing the picture she took and hanging it in her room
