Chapter 3

***

My plane had just landed. I’d never traveled by air before so I could say that this experience was kind of interesting, until it reached a point where the young girl sitting to my left felt sick. Despite my trying to help her and calm the girl down, it was so gross that I almost threw up myself.

And that was my first time using a plane by my own. Sweet...

After some struggle, I finally got my luggage back and headed out to look for my uncle. I really felt a bit lost and confused after so much time spent in all these crammed airports and was eager to find my uncle Rick and go to his place. But damn that irresponsible thing, he was nowhere to be seen. I felt myself getting annoyed and irritated when almost half an hour passed and he hadn’t shown up. I was so going to kill him…

I sighed and headed towards an airport’s café which I’d passed by before. It was almost full and I was lucky enough to spot an empty table at the end of the cafe, next to a window. I thrust myself and my huge suitcase through all the people who crossed my way and finally got to the table. I sat down with the sigh of relief and waited for a waitress to spot me.

After a couple of minutes I was happily sniffing my coffee and had a mouthful of chocolate cake. By that time I had already had my phone and laptop fished out of my suitcase. I was so deep into texting my uncle for a fifth time and skyping with April at the same time, that I noticed a hipper tall guy leaning over me only when he’d plunged his apparently heavy bag on the seat in front of mine, at the other end of the table.

“Hi.” He said as I lifted my confused eyes to him. “You mind if I sit down? There’re no places left and I would kill for a cup of tea.”

Not only was he tall, but had beautiful eyes as well. Although, I had to say that most of that beauty was brought down by his too long crooked nose and quite thin lips.

Whatever, I shouldn’t be staring at people like this…

“Yeah, sure. Though I have to worn you that you’ll have to stand up and wave if you want to get the waitress attention as I guess they are very busy today.”

He smiled quickly and went straight to the counter, leaving his bag with me. I brought my gaze back to the screen of my laptop. My phone started to ring. I grabbed that noisy thing and picked it up, not even bothering to look at caller's id, hoping that'd be Rick.

“Hello?”

“Hey, love, it’s me, my plane’s just landed in Portland. How are you, how was your flight? I hope you didn’t get sick?”

I bet a happy smirk spread on my face. I was so relieved to hear a familiar voice.

Screw that, what I was trying to fool; it was Mat, so I almost sank deeper in my seat out of pure pleasure.

“Hey there,” I greeted him as sweetly as I could. ”It was kinda ok, though the girl sitting next to me threw up a few times. That made me sick, not the flight. How was yours?”

Mat burst out laughing. “Good girl, I’m proud of you, though I really would have enjoyed sitting next to you and holding your hand if you would have bee sick. Mine was terrible. I sat next to a couple who were making out as long as they could and holding hands and whispering like perverts to each other then they couldn’t. So I was close to throwing up as well and had to fight the urge to beat them both because of reminding me of you.”

I sighed and smiled biting my lip. ”Bad boy.” I said chuckling.

“Always.” Mat chuckled as well, so we were both giggling like idiots. “Where are you, anyway? I assumed you’d be at your uncle’s by this time.” He continued the conversation sounding a bit concerned.
