Chapter 5
Coldplay - Paradise

He came exactly after a month since we had last seen each other. I would lie if I say it didn't struck me like a piano out of the blue, because it did, it certainly did.
I was baking. Me, who can barely boil some simple soup from the jar. I was carefully reading the description and making sure I didn't mess anything up. I put the journal with a tasty looking picture of a steak down and went to the oven, grabbed a spoon and stirred the sauce, which was all bubbling from a long boiling. I lifted the spoon to the level with my face and blew on it as hard and long as I could without getting short of breath. I thrust out the tip of my tongue and carefully licked it. I waited a little, letting the taste make it's way to my brain and licked a little more. Mmm... that was pretty good. I put the spoon down, all proud of myself and glanced to the clock, checking the time again.
That was when I heard the doorbell beeping.
It's not like I was all surprised or anything, though I wandered who it could be, as it was Sunday afternoon, my day off, 'cause the store was closed, and I wasn't expecting anyone.
I bent and turned the fire a little bit lower before I ran down the stairs quickly.
I grabbed the doorknob and threw the door open.
And there he was.
Matt stood in all his tallness, his forehead wrinkled a little and his eyes looking tired and bloodshot. However, as soon as his eyes met mine, a huge smile spread on his face, displaying the whole line of his white teeth.
I let out a little breath laugh and shook my head in a total disbelief. His smile wavered and something like confusion or wonder maybe, crossed his feature.
I was surprised. Pretty, pretty much. A few thoughts crossed my mind and the first thing I wanted to ask him was 'what the hell are you doing here?' Instead, I let out some strange shriek of happiness and jumped on him straight from the spot I was standing.
He seemed surprised and caught off guard, but has caught me nonetheless, circling his arms tightly around my waits. I heard a loud laugh getting out of his mouth as he spun me around. I don't think I'm able to describe all those feelings that struck my heart at that moment, and I didn't know what to say, so I simply stayed there, with my face pressed hard to his neck and his cheek resting on the top of my head.
These are the moments that bring the whole world's happiness in one place, right above your head, and dump it on you. Though that never lasts long and soon enough, it all fades away, passes to someone else. I felt like I could stay like this a little more, not forever, as I often hear saying, but just a little more, a minute or so...
Matt pressed me to him tight, then let me go and put me on my feet, but didn't take his hands away. He slowly lifted them to my face and put them on my neck, cupping it and stroking my cheeks with his thumbs.
That was when I asked him, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in Spain for more than a month? Have they kicked you out or something?"
Perhaps my face looked a little worried or something, because he took one of his hands away and put the tips of his fingers to my forehead, erasing all the little wrinkles away.
"I missed you," he said bending to look me in the eyes. The way he said it, the tone he used, it made me feel dump just for a second, like even asking that was stupidest thing ever.
