Adolescence isn't just about prom or wearing sparkly dresses.

Prom night is today. I haven't asked anyone out or has anyone asked me. Maybe it's because of my looks? I sighed as I looked at my dress. "Should I get changed?" I thought to myself. I didn't want to go anymore, if it meant going there alone. I gripped my shirt as I began to ponder on whether to leave or not. I'm really annoyed that my friend, Craig didn't bother asking me. "I guess he found someone else to go with." I sat down on my bed and rested my head on my pillow. I stared at my phone hoping to at least get a text from someone wanting to ask about my plans for prom. Before I could doze off my phone rang and I immediately picked up hoping it was someone about to ask me out to prom.

"Hello?" The person at the other end of the line greeted, I knew this voice. This was Craig's.

"What color should my suit be?" he suddenly asked such a silly question. I knew that even if I answered his question he's going to completely ignore it and wear anything in blue. "I don't know, Craig. Just wear what you want."

"How are we gonna match then?"

Match? What was he talking about. I didn't know how to respond. "W-wait are we supposed to go to prom together?" The line goes silent for a few minutes until multiple curses were heard from the other end of the line.

"Shit. I forgot to ask you."

His surprisingly silly side has caused a change in my heart. "Do you still want to go?" I asked, it was a bit late, but the thought of him asking me to the prom still meant something. "I borrowed this suit just so I can go to the prom with you."

In a way his cockiness appealed to my eyes. "I got a blue dress." even without Craig asking earlier I still purchased a dress color that I knew would absolutely gonna match his suit. "Lucky. I got a blue suit." He said probably thinking that I didn't expect him to get that color. "I should get ready."

"I'll pick you up in an hour." with those words I nodded, but then realized that he was on the phone. "You just nodded didn't you?" He knew me too well. I was overjoyed by the fact that he still asked me out I'm still unable to comprehend how this happened but all I know is that I'm really happy about this. "I'm going to get ready." embarrassed as I was I hang up and got ready for the prom once I was done with adding color to my face and wearing my dress. I called my mom as to help me out with my hair.

"I thought you weren't gonna attend prom anymore."

"I suddenly felt like going."

"That's good. You should enjoy your school days." Mother said as she began fixing my hair. I would usually have my hair up so this was a new thing to me, having my hair down when going to school. "Let me fix your makeup." she added, the only thing I did to my face was just apply powder since I knew nothing about cosmetics.

For about most of the hour she had turned me into her image of a perfect lady, my siblings came to the room and were amazed with how I looked, they thought couldn't believe it was me. After a while of being pampered we heard a knock on the door.

"(Brother's Name), open the door."

My mom was still adding some final touches on my face when there was a knock on the door, so I was unable to get it myself.

"Mom! it's a boy." My brother had shouted from the other room. I saw the face my mom made after hearing those words. A smile grew on her face. "No wonder you changed your mind." She then walked away as she had already finished painting my face. "Let him in, honey." she said to my brother and headed the front door. When I was finally alone in the room my face went red as the thought of my parents seeing Craig picking me up made me all flustered.

"(Y/N), A young man is ready to pick you up." My mom shouted from the other room, I stood up looked at myself in the mirror even I was surprised about current look. "I'm coming." I said as I broke out of my trance towards myself and began walking towards the front door.

As soon as I entered the living room I was greeted by Craig's surprised look, this has caused me to stop walking and blush while my mother made fun of the both of us. "I didn't know my daughter was asked to prom by a handsome man." to be honest I didn't know as well I just found out a few minutes ago. "I actually just asked her out."

My eyes grew wide from Craig's words he didn't have to tell my mom. "I forgot to ask so when I asked her on what color her dress was so we could match I realized my mistake." He had explained our situation earlier. "I am sorry for the late notice." Craig apologize to my mom. "That's okay, dear. as long as my daughter gets to go to prom I'm completely okay with that."

"Besides you should apologize to my daughter instead." My mom added, I looked at Craig who had suddenly blushed with a serious expression. "Craig, don't worry it's okay." I tried stopping him from apologizing for I felt like he didn't have to because in the end I'm happy. "I'm sorry." He still apologized despite my words.

"It's okay." I replied and smiled at him. "Well enough of this. You guys are going to be late for the prom." My mom then slightly shoved us to the front door. "Be sure to bring her back at safely and have fun you two." As soon as our mom went back inside I looked at Craig, who wasn't making any contact with me after we got out of the house.

"You look great, Craig."

"Same to you." He replied as he entwined his hands with mines.
