"Is this how it works?" I asked curiously. "Yes, just lock the nail tighter." Grandpa Joe replied softly.
I slammed the hammer down on the nail and then our project was complete. We had built our bird house for the garden. It had two levels for multiple baby birds. The top was at a slanted level where the rain would drip off the sides to keep the birds warm when it rains.
"It looks amazing grandpa!" I squel in delight. "My sweet girl you are turning 8 tommorow." I giggle. " I know... thanks for building it" I smile brightly. He chuckles loudly. " It was all you darling" he says sweetly as he pats my back.
"Darling, are you okay?" a thick accent hits my ears like thundering clouds.
I look to my right as a boy walks over me as I am sprawled out in the floor. He dropped me.... I take in my realization that I took his hand and now I am on the ground with the jocks no where to be seen. Dang, I can't believe I fell for that... litteraly. I look up to see a tall brunette boy barely holding all my dropped items.
"I believe these are yours" his accent booms down onto me. "Thank you... ugh! I can not believe those guys!" I begin.
Tears start in my eyes not only did I hurt my head but I ruined making friends for the whole semester. I can feel everyones eyes penetrating the back of my skull as I get up.
I took me a while to realize that he was definitly embaressing himself being right next me after the incident with those three jocks. My heart was thankful for his support which I never really got use to in my childhood. After a long look at him to see that he had very wavy, curly hair and enthusiatic green eyes with specks of yellow and light brown. He was taller than me by a couple of inches, probably six foot. While here I standing at 5'9.
" They're big fools to mess with a girl of your strength." he says softly. I wipe away my tear, how ironic. I look at the handle of his backpack to find the print of his name,
"Property of L. R. James."
