John's POV
"Yes Mr Washington.. Of course, I'll have it done by Tuesday." I smiled.
"Thank you Mr Laurens, I'll see you tomorrow at work." Mr Washington waved as I nodded walking out of my office.
When I walked out the building I saw Alexander in his car gesturing me to get in.
Alexander Hamilton has been my best friend since middle school. We've been inseparable ever since.
Honestly I probably wouldn't function without him. His laugh, eyes, dimples, hair, muscles.. Okay yes I do like him. But that won't work, he's engaged to Elizabeth Schuyler also known as the biggest bitch in the world. Excuse my profanity..
"Hey Johnny!" He smiled ruffling my curly hair with his hand as I sat next to him in the passenger seat.
"Hey Lexi.." I smiled back as he started the car.
"How was work?"
"Same as always.." I shrugged taking out my laptop.
"We still going out with Mullete?" I asked noticing my schedule as my laptop screensaver. (We love an organized sister)
"Oh... I'm sorry, I'm going to have to cancel.." He frowned.
"Uh okay, Why? We have guys night every week.."
"Eliza booked this thing for us.. Can't expect me to cancel on my girl.."
But he could cancel for us?! I only shouted that in my head though, I know I'll be ranting this to Laf And Herc later.
"Oh.. Y-Yeah I understand.." I mumbled.
Alex slightly frowned taking a sharp turn. First Elizabeth complains about us, then he barely hangs out with me and the guys now he has to cancel on us? Who does she think she is? I mean his girlfriend..
"So.. How's Martha and James.?" He asked.
Martha and James are my oldest siblings, yeah they live in different countries but they always try to make time for me.
"They're good I suppose.." I shrugged looking at the portfolio assignment.
"Have to draw something for Washington?"
"When don't I have to draw something for Washington?" I giggled.
Alex smirked slightly causing my cheeks to slightly turn red. Jesus why do I like my best friend?
Time skip..
"Here you go Mr Laurens.." He laughed posing as a butler.
"Your not coming inside?" I asked.
"No.. Liza wants me to meet her somewhere."
I rolled my eyes slightly.
"Well thanks Butler Hamilton." I laughed playing along.
He smirked as I hopped out of the car as he waved driving off.
Ahh that boy.
I chuckled walking into my building opening the door to Landon and Sadie jump on me.
My puppies.
"Hey kiddos.." I laughed as they licked my face. I placed them down hearing my phone ring.
"Hello?"
"Yo open the door, you closed it on me." A familiar voice said.
"Okay.. Herc." I chuckled opening the door to him tackling me with Laf behind him.
"JOHNNY!" Herc shouted.
"Mullete? What are you doing here?"
Hercules got up helping me get up to.
"Uh Guys night, duh.." He laughed.
"Where is Alexandre?" Laf asked looking around the house only to see Landon and Sadie.
"Uh he canceled."
"WHAT!"
"HE BAILED ON US?"
"OH HELLL NAH.."
"It's okay.. We'll have our own guys night here!" I offered pulling out a champagne bottle from my fridge.
Hercules smiled as Laf took out the glasses pouring out the drinks.
"To our real friendship!" I shouted shading Alexander. "Palm trees everywhere!" Hercules laughed as we all drank the whole thing from the glass.
"I cannot wait to go to Fiji with Laffy in July.." Herc smiled as July was literally three weeks away.
Laf blushed covering his cheeks playfully pushing Hercules away. "Must be nice.." I shrugged drinking more champagne as I pulled out the water, Can't have a stupid hangover tomorrow. "Come on mon ami, You can't like Lexi forever.." Lafayette shrugged as Herc nodded taking more sips. "He's the only guy that I've ever liked who is really close to me, of course I'll be hung up forever." I said drinking water. "That's not healthy Johnny.." Herc mumbled also taking a glass of water. "Well that's how I choose to live." I frowned walking to my dogs, I just realized I killed the vibe but really it would be difficult for me to get over Alex, I've liked him since freshman year of college, I guess I will be hung up forever but a little part of me hopes that one day he'll like me back. Alex's POV I parked in my mom's driveway. I feel bad for lying to John about going out with Eliza and cancelling on my best friends but they can't know the secret about the real reason why I'm getting married.
I opened the front door walking in. "Mommy.. I'm here.." I call out closing the door behind me. "I'm upstairs sweetheart." She softly called back. I slowly went up the stairs, seeing my mom laying in her bed. It always pains me to see her this way. "Hey Mommy.." I smiled softly sitting on the chair next to her bed. "Hey Alexander.. How was your day?" She mumbled hoarsely. "Okay, The overnight job is pretty rough.." I shrugged scratching the back of my neck. "As long as I can get money for your medicine before the marriage.." "Don't over exert yourself because of me Alex, it's not healthy.." She said placing a hand over mine. "I-I'm not.." I lied. "I know you are.." She whispered before falling back to sleep. I wrapped the blanket around her laying down next to her. I'd cross oceans for my mother in a heartbeat. Four jobs, and loveless marriage is nothing.
