CHAPTER 2
ALANA’S POV
"Baby you light up-" I change the channel as the low, husky voice of that green eyed freak blares out from my old, dusty radio, but not without those traitorous flutterings' in my chest. Kate slowly turns to face me, jaw slack and blue eyes, so much like mine, wide open at my daring to change the channel on her favourite song.
"ALI!" she shrieks, making a wild dive to the stereo, desperately trying to make the small, rusty knobs turn. I watch her from the corner of my eye with a thinly veiled amusement a tiny smile lazily stretching across my face as I watch her struggle with my ancient, black radio. She turns to me, frowning while pointing to that brick of electronics. "Make it work" she commands me, much like a three year old whose favourite toy had ceased to work.
"What's the magic word Kate?" I reply, drumming out an imaginary beat on the cracked leather of my steering wheel. She heaves a huge sigh from her robust figure and pouts, gazing at my seemingly uninterested face.
"Quidditch" she grins, waiting for my reaction. Now it's my turn to sigh while simultaneously hiding another smile.
"The magic word starts with a 'P' Kate, not a 'Q'" I say, as if lecturing a small child. She rolls her eyes, then looks out the window with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Peeves?"
"Nup"
"Percy?"
"Not even close"
"Pansy Parkinson?"
"Why are you listing Harry Potter characters?"
"Because they'e magical" she says doing jazz hands on the fervently whispered word of 'magical'. I try to stifle a laugh at her ridicoulous expression.
"The word is please Kate" I sigh, raising my perfectly manicured eyebrows at her now scowling figure.
"Please" she answers sullenly, the over exagerrated put spreading over her feautures again. I chocke back a laugh once again then flick on the radio, watching an expression of complete and untter joy brighten up my cousins face. "But Ali" she says, her face falling as a different song blasts from the wireless, "'What Makes You Beautiful' is over"
"Good" I reply quuickly, my voice containing a cold edge, thin and as razor sharp as a knife blade, frosted over with ice. Kate glances at my tight expression, concertrating on the steering wheel with such an intensity, my eyes burned. Or that just could be the beginnings of tears, their hot daggers poking at my blue orbs.
"You still haven't told me the full story about what happened that night Alana" she says gently, her warm fingers linking themselves through my cold, bird-like ones. I wrench my hands out of her grip, trying not to focus on the pain in her eyes.
"You don't want to hear it" I choke out, the tears that haven't been shed for over two years catching at the back of my throat, never mind the ones prickling at my eyes, "you don't want to hear the story of a broken heart"
TO BE CONTINUED (well, I'll keep writing *pinkie swear*)
