Valerie's POV

The music got louder the closer I got. When I get my hands on that man! I'm gonna...well I don't what I'll do but it won't be nice.

The elevator stops and Jarvis says," We have now reached floor 22nd."

The doors open, I'm greeted with the sight of strobe lights, a dj, and dozens of people dancing. Tony is no where in sight.

I go up to a partygoer and ask," Where's Tony?"

"Over there!" the girl says and points me in the direction. I look over and see Tony talking to a man clearly not aware that I'm here, I fight my way across the the crowd to him.

"Tony what's going on?" I ask with a slight edge in my voice.

"Val, babe your here!" Tony said putting his arm around me. "Rhodey this is the girl I've been telling you about. Val this is my friend Rhodey."

"Nice to meet you, I'm James Rhodes," The man says and holds out his hand.

I shake his hand," Valerie Torrence, it's a pleasure."

"Tony you still haven't told me what's going on." I say firmly.

"Seriously?" Tony asks. "You have no clue?"

"Non what's so ever," I reply.

"Val read the sign," Tony says pointing upwards.

I look up and the banner reads.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY VALERIE!

"It's not my birthday," I protest.

"But in fact it is," Tony says smirking. "Tell me Val, what is your birthday."

"July 28th," I answer.

"And Rhodey what day is it?" Tony asks Rhodey.

"July 28th," Rhodey tells him. Oh my god, I forgot my own birthday?!

"I told him you'd forget," Bruce says walking up behind Rhodey.

"Hang on," I say. "You this morning, it was all just an act?"

"All part of the plan," he replies.

"You jerk! I was worried about you," I lightly slap his arm.

"Happy birthday Val," Tony says and pulls me in for a kiss.

"Get a room you two," I hear a familiar voice say. I break the kiss and turn around.

"Tracy!" I embrace my best friend.

"Tony invited me," She tells me. I look over at him, I can't stop smiling.

"Go ahead," He starts. "Say it."

"Say what?" I question.

"That you have the best, most handsome, smart boyfriend in the world," Tony answers smirking.

"I would but I don't think your ego could take anymore inflating," I respond and kiss him on the cheek.

"Here have a drink ," Tony hands me a glass of liquid.

"What is it?" I ask curiously.

"Bullet Bourbon," Tony answers. "I know it's your favorite."

I take a short sip of the drink, it runs smoothly down my throat.

"Aww thanks for remembering," I say. I really do have the greatest boyfriend ever.

"Your welcome, how do you like the dress?" Tony asks.

"I love it it's gorgeous!" I still can't stop smiling.

"Good, I'm glad you like it," Tony says. All of a sudden 4 men come out carrying a huge cake. It was a 4 tier cake with purple zebra print icing, it had lit sparklers all over it and neon yellow icing that spelled out "Happy Birthday Valerie".

"Well Tony, I have to admit, you've out done yourself," Rhodey says.

"Come on, it's time to blow out the candles birthday girl," Tracy says and pulls me over to the cake. On the bottom tier there are two candles, one is in the shape of a two and another is in the shape of a six.

People began singing Happy Birthday to me. I blushed at everybody looking at me, a lot of them I don't know.

At the end of the song I blow out my candles.

"What'd you wish for?" Tony asks me.

"I can't tell you, or else it won't come true," I tell him.
