Zelda ran. She ran as fast as she could, but every step she would take her leg would erupt in pain. Her twisted ankle was causing a lot more trouble then what it was worth.

There were two members of the Yiga clan after her, and with her ankle being twisted, they were gaining quite quickly.

She looked around for help, but the only thing she saw in the distance was the faint outline of the Bazaar, another direction, sand, another, even more sand.

"I just hate sand" she mumbled to herself as she trudged quickly along, trying not to think about how upset her father would be to hear that she died at the hands of the Yiga, "Its course and irritating and gets everywhere."

The Yiga clan members were gaining, Zelda didn't need to turn around, she could hear them. She could hear them coming to get her. Only 8 steps away from getting mercilessly cut down by the Yiga. But that's when she tripped and fell, she sharply turned around and watched the Yiga walk closer.

7 steps away, if only she had stayed with Link

6 steps away, he would get blamed.

5, it wasn't his fault,

4, it never was,

3, he was always there for her

2, always there

1, expect for now... Zelda closed her eyes, as she braced for pain and end to come. She waited and listened for a split second, taking in the pitter patter and sounds of nature. In a split second, Zelda decided that she wouldn't close her eyes as she died, no, she would look death in the face as a final act. If this is how I go, I shall go with at least a little bit of honor. She stared the villains as they drew their weapons. Of course she was scared. She was absolutely terrified.

As one was arching back their arm to strike her down, Zelda noticed that the pitter patter that she heard earlier was getting brisker. Then, as the blade was being brought down, another blade intercepted, right in front of Zelda's face.

Zelda watched as Link took up a defensive position in front of her. The Yiga took one look at Link and the sword he was wielding, and decided that they best not test their luck, and ran away.

She watched as the dry breeze ruffled Link's dirty blond hair and she saw the glint of determination in his blue eyes.

Zelda could feel her cheeks get warm and red. She cocked her head and smiled. Then she realized what she was doing, Oh no, she thought, Oh absolutely not, I hate him. She thought to herself, she turned back to look at him, attempting to force a feeling of hatred, but it immediately melted away, and Zelda realized, that she had been lying to herself.

More time to think about this newfound revelation would have been nice, but Link immediately turned to her after the Yiga members were out of site, and she saw something in his eyes, was it... "You're scared?" She asked, clearly perplexed.

Link shook his head, and softly touched her arm, "Zelda, you could've died."

Zelda didn't know whether it was just because she just had died, just ended a very stressful situation, or the fact that Link spoke to her, but she started to cry.

"You're right" She choked out through the tears.

Link smiled softly, it was such a kind and cute smile, just like him. Zelda would've mentally smacked herself, but she was a bit too busy breaking down. He gathered Zelda into a hug.

He rested his head on top of Zelda's as she cried into his tunic. They stayed like this for a few minutes.

Then he whispered, "I almost lost you." It was so quiet that Zelda wasn't even sure that she heard it.

She grabbed him again as she started to cry harder, "I'm so sorry, I never meant for this to happen."

He grabbed her shoulders, not hard or abruptly, but Zelda didn't expect it, but there she was, her own green eyes staring into his big blue ones. "Please," he said, "Don't do that again." He said, he grabbed her hand, "I can't..." he seemed to struggle for the words, "I can't lose you."

Zelda's brain and hormones must've been knocked off balance because she began to tear up again, but maybe of happiness, because she was really touched by the sincere tone of Link's voice.

"Oh Link," she said, "I didn't know I meant so much to you." She said, at least her quippy-ness had remained somewhat intact.

He smiled weakly, "You have no idea." He said quietly.

And they just stood there, in complete silence, drinking in each other's embrace and company.

Strange, Zelda thought to herself, all this time I've been running away from him, but all that I've really done is run too him. She smiled, this is much better then yelling at him.

Zelda rested her head on Link's chest, "Thank you." She said.

They set up camp for the night, and after they ate and talked, well, Zelda did all the talking, but she did make Link laugh, they retired to their respective tents.

Zelda fell asleep quite easily, but her dreams quickly turned into nightmares, she woke up to the feeling of her being shook.

Once her eyes focused, she saw Link with a concerned look on his face. "Princess, are you alright?" He asked, eyes searching hers for an answer.

"It..." "It was just a bad dream," Zelda said

Link crouched down so their eyes were level, "Tell me." He said simply.

"Well," Zelda struggled to find the right words, "I wasn't fast enough, and." She stopped, looking away from him, "and you didn't get to me in time, and I." She sighed

They sat in silence for a few moments, then to her surprise, and maybe even to Link's as well, Link started singing.

He had such a smooth melodious voice, but one would never be able to tell with how little he talks.

"You know I'd fall apart without you." Link offered Zelda his hand, and she took it tentatively. He continued to sing as they spun around.

"You've got to know that you're wanted too." Zelda gazed into Link's eyes, so full of some emotion that Zelda couldn't quite place. Of course, she knew what she wanted it to be, but wishful thinking aside, it probably wasn't.

"Cause I want to wrap you up, want to kiss your lips, I want to make you feel wanted. And I want to call you min, want to hold your hand forever."

Link squeezed Zelda's hand, a very reassuring feeling.

They continued to dance and Zelda could feel her worries melting away. She would, as long as Link was around with her, she would be fine.
