Caiden's POV (unedited)

I recheck the address that's displayed in the text from Jessica.

The house I'm standing at is a fairly large nice looking penthouse.

It looks huge compared to mine though. I walk up the marble steps and face the large wooden door. I do my traditional knock. Yeah it's kinda weird but who doesn't have a traditional knock?

Large footsteps followed by fast tiny ones can be heard through the door. I see the doorknob shake and then it's jerked open with a pull.

Bailey stands in front of her mom looking proud that she answered the door.

"Hi Caiden!"She runs and clings to my leg

I think it's adorable how we only met a couple hours ago but she still is so excited to see me.

Baileys mom looks down, shakes her head and then laughs.

"Bailey honey let the poor girl come in"

Bailey looks up at me and blushes slightly but releases her arms.

I follow them both in and enter what I assume was the dining room.

"You can take off your shoes here" Bailey points to the corner with cluttered various pairs of shoes

I'm not some FBI agent or detective but I notice there isn't one pair of grown men shoes. Did Jessica and her husband spilt? Because if they did, who is the dad of the baby that was on her hip at the park. It's not any of my business but I'm still curious.

"We are eating spaghetti and meatballs! I helped mommy make it!"

I give her a smile and look down.

"That's really sweet! I can't wait to try it!" I fake a large amount of excitement

Jessica points to a chair by the Baby boys high chair.

"Bailey sit down so we can get ready to eat"

Bailey does what she's told and sits down. She pats the seat next to her excitedly.

"Caiden sit down!"

I pull the heavy chair out and squeeze in.

I can feel the awkwardness start to make it's way into the room once we are all seated.

"So Caiden have you lived here all your life?" Jessica asks as she puts a bite of spaghetti into her mouth.

"No I just moved her recently actually, my family lives back in Colorado."

Her eyes widen in excitement as she puts down her glass of water.

"I've heard it's beautiful out there, I've always wanted to go there!"

She was right, it was breath taking back home. The sky was always lit up in an array of beautiful shades of blue and at sunset, shades of purples, pinks and especially orange.

Suddenly thinking back about home I start to feel home sick. Maybe I should give my mom that call after all.

The rest of the night went on smoothly as the awkwardness ceased away. Jessica had asked me many questions which I all politely answered. After getting to know me well enough she asked if on occasions I could babysit the kids which I gladly said yes to.

By the time we got done eating and talking it was already dark out. I said goodbye and thanked them for the wonderful dinner and then went out the large door.

There was only a slight breeze as I walked down the street. Luckily for me Jessica's home wasn't too far away from mine so I was able to walk home.

As I walked down the still fairly busy street I felt awkward. A sudden feeling of nervousness approached me. That's when I heard someone say my name.

It was a feminine voice, one who's I recognized instantly.

Angel stood behind me nervously smiling.

"Um hi?" I asked coming off a lot more bitchy than I intended

"First off I want you to know I'm sorry, I had no idea Jerome and you were a thing. He had just stated hitting on me and his smile got to me and I just ugh, I'm sorry if I ruined you guys" She nervously rushed her words together

"Well Jerome and I aren't really a thing so it's fine but I was just surprised he moved onto hitting on other girls after he had just kissed me." I say as I avoid her eye contact knowing it would make me feel worse to see the sincere look on her face.

"I have absolutely no right to ask this but could we just start over?" She politely asks as she kicks her combat boot across the cement

"I mean could we try to be friends?" She clarifies

Would that be the smart thing to do? Forget about this all? It's not her fault, she didn't know about Jerome and I. It's Jerome's fault. He's the one who did this.

"Yeah I think that's a good idea" My eyes meet hers for a second, just long enough to see the gigantic smile form on her face

She lets out a squeal and hugs me so tight I can feel the air slowly leaving my body. After my gasping she realizes and quickly let's go.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" She worriedly looks at me

After regaining my oxygen back and I laugh at the look on her face.

"It's okay, I'll forgive you for trying to kill me"

Her laugh is loud and seems to carry on for minutes but it's one of those laughs that makes you laugh. It was contagious.

After she finally stops laughing she hands me her phone.

"Here your number in my phone so that way I'll have it"

I quickly type in my number and give her phone back.

And then it hits me, how did she find me?

It's almost like she can read my mind.

"Oh by the way I'm not a stalker, I was just walking home from a dance class and I recognized you lol"

"Oh okay"

She looks at the time on her phone and then back at me.

"Well it's getting late I should go"

I nod and agree with her.

She turns to walk away and then quickly turns around.

"Oh yeah, and please don't be too mad at Jerome. I think he really likes you."

She then walks away leaving me astounded.

Is it possible Jerome didn't just kiss me because he is crazy? Could he actually like me?

Just then I get a phone call which interrupts my thoughts. The number was unknown but I answer anyways.

"Hey baby" a deep voice says into the phone. My blood runs cold as my phone slips out of my hand and hits the cement and shatters.
