The time had come and Jac was walking up Fletch's drive to his front door, Emma by her side. Fletch unlocked the door and gestured for Jac to enter. No going back now,he thought, a smile growing on his face as Jac and Emma entered his house.
"Jac,hi." Evie exclaimed as she came down the stairs. "And you must be Emma. My names Evie. Shall I take you to come see the others?" Her voice was soft and gentle, much like her fathers. Emma nodded and followed Evie through the kitchen to the garden where the others were playing games.
"Well that went well." Jac laughed.
"Better than expected." Fletch smiled back, allowing his happiness to show. "Fancy some wine with the pizza?" She nodded and followed him to the dining room. The others had gathered in there as well, mouths open and drool falling as their dad slowly opened a pizza box. Emma,Ella and Theo shared a pizza as did Evie and Mikey, the older children having to have half and half as they couldn't agree on toppings. Jac and Fletch shared a pizza too but also had a garlic bread each. Privileges of being an adult.

The rest of the evening flew by and soon the only people still awake were Fletch, Jac and Evie, Jac was half asleep leaning on Fletch's shoulder. She didn't realise but she fell there whilst sleeping.
"Have you told her yet dad?" Evie whispered, being careful not to wake Jac.
"Not yet, not yet."
"Ok well good luck but I'm going to bed now so night dad. Love you." She placed a kiss on his forehead.
"Love you too, night." He watched her leave the room and go up the stairs before returning to the TV.
"Told me what?" Jac asked suddenly.
"Ah blimey Jac you scared the living daylight out of me. I thought you were asleep" He gasped. Jac had taken him by surprise.
"I was asleep, but now I'm not and I heard. So told me what?" She demanded, sitting up and facing him.
"Listen Jac I think it's time we had that talk now." Jac gulped but nodded. God help me,she thought. She had to go first. She couldn't sit there and listen to Fletch ramble on and hide how she feels any longer.
"Right so about the song. Emma has sung it before, mainly after I talk about you. Yes I talk about you. I talk about how kind you've been to mummy and how much you look after me. And no it's not just for Emma. I'm talk about you because I have to talk to someone about what's on my mind and who else would be better than a five year old girl. Anyway, what I really wanted to say was how much I want that song to be true for us and that I love you. I have done for a while but I've only recently admitted it to myself. I've never felt like this before and I'm sorry if I've just ruined this." She stood up, embarrassed. She was ready to leave if necessary, or just to run somewhere and hide, cry even. She couldn't loose him, ever.
"Jac." Fletch stood up to face her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I love you too." He leaned closer to her until their lips met. They shared a kiss full of compassion. It was Jac who broke away first, a smile plastered across her face.
"I think I need to go to sleep now. Where am I sleeping exactly?" She asked as they hadn't arranged that.
"Oh um. You can have my bed and I'll sleep down here. I'll go get some blankets and quickly put on fresh bedding for you." He returned the smile and started to walk away.
"Fletch. There is something else I haven't told you." He spun round.
"When I do manage to get sleep, I'm not particularly having great dreams either. Stay with me? Please? And you don't have to change the sheets." Her head dropped to the ground. She was ashamed to admit that she needed someone.
"That's ok Jac. And of course I'll stay with you if you want me too. Come on let's go." He held out his hand for her to grasp which she could see in the corner of her eye. Jac steppes forward and held his hand all the way upstairs.

They were lying in silence. It had been ten minutes and Jac was pretty sure Fletch had fallen asleep but she wasn't sure.
"Fletch?" She whispered and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Yuh huh?" He replied sleepily as he turned to face her.
"I love you."
"I love you too." His arms snaked around her shoulders and pulled her closer.

They fell asleep like that. Happy. Content. Peaceful. In each other's arms, both smiling. This is one of the best ideas they had had. It was going to be the best nights sleep Jac had had in ages, even if Emma did come in.

"Mummy." She tapped Jac on the shoulder until she woke. "It happened again." Jac sighed and started to get up.
"Let me do it." Fletch whispered. "C'mon then monkey. Let's change your pj's and you can go sit with mummy and when I finish I'll come back and sing the spider song before you go back to sleep yeah?"
"Yeah!" Emma smiled before following Fletch out the door.

A million thoughts raced around Jac's head from if it was right to should I leave, until it settled on one.

He's the one.
