I stare groggily at the alarm clock not understanding what the red LED lights are trying to show me. Rubbing my eyes I take a second look only to jump out of bed in shock when I realise I'm nearly half an hour late getting up for school. "Shit!" I shouted, hopping up and down whilst clutching at my injured foot, after having stubbed my toe on my bedside table, " now I'm really gonna be late for school!"
-------------------------------------
Talking to no one in particular, I wander round my room trying to remember where everything is. "Keys are on the dresser. Pencil case is already in my bag. Damn! Where's my English textbook?"
By the time I'd managed to locate everything I was an extra ten minutes late. Deciding that in the circumstances a little rule breaking was allowed, I made it to school in under 10 minutes. Naturally just as I got there the bell went, signalling the end of form time, making it blatantly obvious that I had been late. Now don't get me wrong, I'm no goody two shoes but there's something about the way that people stare at you when you're late, like you've just kicked a puppy or something.
----------------------------------------
After receiving my late detention slip from Mrs Grey, I then made my way, late again, to my first period lesson.
When I got there, my teacher had already started the lesson, so, not wanting to disturb him, I waited patiently in the doorway. It was just my luck that my bag decided that, this was the perfect moment to break, consequently spilling my stuff all over the floor. Sighing, I bent down and began retrieving all my personal belongings.
Thinking that my day just couldn't get any worse the door suddenly decided to fly open propelling me halfway across the classroom. Of course the rest of the class found this utterly hilarious and burst into laughter. Even the teacher was struggling to hold back his laughter. Traitor. I muttered to my self as I started to pick up my things AGAIN.
"Erm, I think this belongs to you...?"
I froze at the sound of a masculine voice. "I wonder if he looks as good as he sounds...", I thought to myself. Slowly I turned around, silently praying that I didn't look as dishevelled as I felt. Standing to face him I struggled to breathe. He was HOT!
It was then that I noticed what it was that he was holding out to me. Cheeks flaming, I reached out and grabbed the tampon, hopefully before anyone else could see and shoved it in my back pocket. Deciding that I would only further embarrass myself by making any attempt at speaking, I swiftly turned on my heel, picked up my bag, and sat down in my seat.
Vowing that I would keep my head down for the rest of the lesson, I vaguely heard that guy- no GOD - explain that he was the new kid and why he was late. Realising that a better use of my time would be to at least pretend to do the work, I got my books out of my bag and started to copy the stuff off the board. My ingenious plan was ruined by the screech of a chair being pulled out from the table next to me.
"Hey, I'm alex."
Assuming he was talking to one of the prettier girls in my class, I carried on working only to be poked, rather sharply, with a pencil.
"Hey, do you mind not poking me with that cause it hurts, okay?!", I snapped at him. Realising what I said I turned in my chair, mouth open I hurried to apologise, when I was cut off
"Don't bother okay. I was just trying to be friendly. Geez!"
"No! I'm sorry! Look I didn't mean it - how about we start again? Hey I'm Evelyn but most people call me Lynn or Lynnie." I said, sticking my arm out for him to shake.
He turned his back on me, choosing instead to talk to Janine, the queen bitch of our school. Seeing me stare at Alex with a dumbfounded expression on my face, she smugly flipped me the bird and continued to talk to Alex. Sensing that I was not wanted I spun round to face the front and continued to do the work set on the board. Sighing, i turned to page 79 of the textbook. It was going to be a long day
