The rest of the week was relatively normal. Janine went back to her old ways the next day. I can't say I'm surprised - her face probably would've frozen without its insulating layer of make up. Frankly I was just glad it was Friday. Fridays after school me, Ryan and Leslie would have our weekly game of football in the park.
Well... I say football. It was basically Ryan running around with the ball while me and Leslie grabbed onto his arms and legs and attempted other various things to stop him from scoring goals. Needless to say, we failed miserably. But it was always good fun coming up with sneaky 'tactics' in order to win.
The closest we ever came to stopping him from scoring was when Leslie, in a fit of craziness, ran up behind him a yanked his pants down around his ankles. He still did stop though. I swear I thought I was going to die! The look on Leslie's face paired with the sight of Ryan waddling towards the goal with his pants around his ankles and his Barney the Dinosaur boxers on full display almost made me wet myself!

I met up with Leslie at her locker and, after changing into something more suitable, we headed to the front of the school where we were due to meet Ryan. The sight that greeted me made me freeze in my tracks. Unfortunately, Leslie had the opposite problem. Instead barreling towards them, which resulted in me being propelled into the very last person I expected to see.
"Ooof-" I let out a very unladylike noise, having just been catapulted into a pair of rock solid abs. Even MORE unfortunately, I was not the only one injured in the incident since, as I slammed into him, my bag had decided to join in the fun and swing off my arm, and straight into a very sensitive part of the male anatomy.
I looked down, horrified, to see a gasping and groaning Alex, rolling around on the floor cupping his balls.
"OMG I'm SO sorry! I didn't mean-- I mean, Leslie she just-- and I was pushed- I mean pulled! Into you.. And my bag-- just OMG IM SO SORRY" I tried to explain, gesturing wildly.
"OMG she-!"
"And the bag just-!"
"And he-!"
"Just fell--!"
"Like a sack-!"
"Of--!!
"POTATOES!!!" They both screamed the last part together. Leslie clutching her stomach while Ryan, having found the entire thing utterly hilarious, was literally rolling on the floor laughing.
"C'mon guys, cut it out. Lets just go to the park already."
"Alright man, cmon" Ryan said, extending a hand out to Alex, who was still on the floor. Though he had stopped the moaning.
"I'm alright, I'm alright," Alex assured, getting up, "Let's go play some football!"
"What do you mean 'let's'?" I asked, looking suspiciously between the two boys.
"He's playing with us. Thought it was time we evened the teams up a bit." Ryan explained.
"Damn." Leslie stated.
I raised an eyebrow at her in question.
"Now I wish we were playing a full contact sport..." She answered. Staring thoughtfully at Alex, who began to fidget a little.
"So how are we splitting the teams?" I asked.
"Well I thought me and you could be on one team. And Alex and Leslie on the other. That way Lynnie, at least you can have a shot at seeing what it's like to be on the winning side." He finished with a wink at me.
"Great! Let's go!" Leslie exclaimed, already running in the direction of the park.
*******************************************
I was feeling a little bit nervous on the way to the park. I'd done a pretty good job of avoiding Alex in the past week, and now here I am about to play footie with him. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't avoiding him cos I didn't like him. It's just, I don't want to make things worse. He already practically hates me. Somehow I don't exactly think he'll appreciate me around 24/7. Not that I would be. Around 24/7 that is. Personally I'm not like that. After all, I wouldn't want to put Janine out of a job now, would I?
When we got to the edge of the field, we all dumped out bags.
"Right," Ryan started, "First things first. Goalie or no goalie?"
Leslie and I looked at each other.
"Open goal." We declared in unison.
Our reason being, it's much easier to score without a goalie. Cos everyone's running around on the field.
"Alright, alright. Who starts?"
"Ladies pick... Lynnie, heads or tails?"
"Umm... Tails! No, heads! Yeah, tails! DEFINITELY tails!!"
"AAAAAANND.." Ryan threw the coin in the air, "Its heads."
"Dang! I almost had it that time!"
"Better luck next time, champ" said Leslie, patting me on the back as she went past. She knew how much I hated to lose at heads or tails. It was, however lame or immature, my kryptonite.
