"Right. So what are we going to do?" Ryan asked me, "To make sure we win, I mean."
"What? I thought we were having a proper game today. Y'know, now that we have proper teams and all?"
"Really? Well ok if you say so... But you can bet your sorry ass that they're coming up with some dirty tactics right now."
"How can you be so sure?" I asked him.
"Leslie's on that team!" He said in a 'duh' kind of way, "Remember her? Your girl best friend? Devious, sneaky, underhanded? The one who came up with the idea to pants me during our last game?" He fired at me, eyebrows raised.
"Yes Ryan," I laughed, "I'm pretty sure I know who she is!"
"Well listen carefully then. Cos here's what we're going to do....."
*******************************************
Once we'd concluded our 'game play', we all met up in the middle of the field.
"Right." Ryan started, "Here's how it's going to work. First to five wins. Open goals. The only rules are as follows; no violence, no secret sharing or the spilling of potentially embarrassing facts about others." That last part was punctuated with a rather stern glare at me and Leslie.
Now that may sound weird to you, about the no spilling of secrets and whatnot. But he had a good reason to be wary. During a particularly epic game, Leslie decided to come up with the idea of shouting out embarrassing facts about Ryan in the hopes of throwing him off his game. It worked. In fact it worked so well that Leslie still has a scar on her leg to prove it.
"Oh yeah, I remember that!" She exclaimed, "Oh gosh, Lynnie! Do you remember the look on his face after I shouted out that he had a crush on Miss Truman for the entire ninth grade! Gods it was priceless!!!" And with that she doubled over in a fit of giggles.
"Yeah I remember. And then Ryan got so mad he pushed you into that thorn bush, and you tripped and got that scar on your leg."
"Ok that's enough..." Ryan stated, his ears flushed in an adorable shade of pink.
"Dude you had a crush on Miss Truman?" Alex continued, "isn't she like fifty? Oh! Is she the one who's always sucking on them Werthers? I had her once as a supply." I already knew this of course having been in the same class as him at the time.
"Yup that's the one!" Said Leslie, still laughing, "He always thought that she liked him too cos she always used to give him one, never anyone else!"
"Leslie..." Ryan warned.
"Bless him he was so devastated when he found out-"
"Leslie!" I cut in, seeing the rage growing on Ryan's face. She didn't listen and, instead, carried on talking.
"-that she was engaged to one of the PE teachers-"
"Leslie!" I tried again, "That's enough!"
Even Alex was looking a bit shifty now, no longer enjoying Ryan's embarrassment.
"-that he cried for like an hour!!!"
"I SAID THAT'S ENOUGH!!!" Ryan bellowed.
*******************************************
In the end it was Leslie and Alex who won the game. I was beyond hopeless as usual. And Ryan? Lets just say his heart wasn't in it. I mean who can blame him after that little outburst?
We were all back at the school now. Since we'd left our cars here and all. Except mine which was at the garage being fixed. I went over to talk to Ryan who was moping off to one side of the rest of us.
"Hey Ry. Are you okay?" I began by asking.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He sighed.
"C'mon you know how Leslie is! She doesn't always know when to stop. I've almost got her trained, I swear!" I joked, trying to lighten the mood.
It didn't work.
"Yeah, yeah I know. Listen I got to run. D'you mind getting a lift from Alex?" He asked me leaning down so he could look into my eyes. "Hey, alex!!" He continued without giving me a chance to respond, "Can you give Lynnie a ride home? Cheers bro I owe you one!"
"But Ryan-"
"Just give him a chance Lynnie. He's a good guy, I promise. Now I gotta go but I'll call you later. Love you!" He shouted, already jogging to his truck.
Well this is just great. Now I get to be stuck in a confined space with a guy who hated my guts.
Fan-tabby-tastic!
Not.

A/N I know! I know! Please stop yelling! I am deeply, TRULY sorry for this incredibly short and incredibly late chapter. But it's been hard since I had a massive case of writers block, plus I've been studying for my GCSE's and whatnot. Then I had to sort my love life out cos apparently my best friend (who is a guy by the way) decided he was in love with me even though I have a boyfriend.... So it was a really trying time and I'm sorry you had to wait so long!
AIM TO HAVE THE NEXT CHAPTER UP BY THE 22nd IF NOT FEEL FREE TO HATE!!!
