You never thought you'd meet a grass man, at least not until today.

You, koby, and Luffy made it to land. Where? You weren't too sure. But you could tell something was up.

After Koby described what Zoro was like, you couldn't help but get goosebumps. While Your captain brushed it off as if it was nothing, you were almost the opposite. Almost.

While you didn't assume as much as other humans would, you would be a little suspicious about another human, after all, they weren't known for being nice.

You chirped at Koby and Luffy to get over the wall while you stood low, watching the supposed demon in human flesh. He only stared back at you with a blank stare. You crooned and cocked your head while his eye slightly widened at your behavior. Luffy finally joined you at the wall, slightly panting.

"Aye, Don't run off without me, Bird!" He said while wiping his forehead.

You ignored him and stared deeply into the moss man's soul. He never took his eyes off of yours either. It was... really weird and awkward....

"Oi Bird, stop ignoring me." Luffy said, lightly tapping your nose, which caused you to immediately growl and grab it.

"Bird hates nose being tapped. No tapping!"

"Oi, you three. You're an eyesore. Get out of here." The moss man said in a blunt voice.

Koby immediately flinched while you and Luffy stared at him blankly. You then noticed a little girl sneaking into the area. You watched the two interact with each other, with the moss man telling her to scram. You cocked your head a bit, furrowing your eyebrows at his actions.

"Why is moss man so mean? Is he like other bad humans?"

Luffy only hummed in response.

Then came the spoiled blonde brat. He absolutely smelled putrid to you. You puffed up your feathered coat, only for Luffy to place his hand on your back, as if to say not to engage.

"Making friends are we?"
"Hm. She's no friend of mine."

The brat completely ignored him and noticed the rice ball in the girl's hands.

"Oh? What do you have there?"
"This is for Zoro! Not you!"

The brat snatched the girl's rice ball and shoved it in his mouth, only to spit it out out of disgust.

"TOO SWEET!!!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT WITH SALT!!!!"

He threw the rice ball down and stomped on it. The girl started screaming, begging him to stop before you finally had enough. Just as you were about to fuck up his bowl cut looking head, Koby grabbed you from behind, covering your mouth as you struggled. You stopped, noticing the marine hesitantly grabbing the little girl before throwing her over the wall, without thinking, Luffy caught the girl in time, falling on his back while protecting her. You stared in utter shock at what happened before looking back at the brat, only to find him walking away laughing.

Koby finally let go of you to check on the girl, leaving you to stare at the man. He looked towards the ground, not daring to look up.

Whatever that brat said to him must have pissed him off. So you did the one thing you could think of.

As you approached him, his head shot up at you with a glare before realizing it was yet again the weird girl.

"What do you want?" He muttered.

You stared at him before launching yourself at him. He flinched, immediately closing his eyes and lifting his foot up in defense, only to open his eyes to find you not in front of him. He looked around the area in front of him, not noticing the feathered person behind him.

"What the- FUCK!!!!" He yelled, noticing your face looking at him upside down. You sat on top of the cross getting close and personal with him. He felt your hand grab his shoulders for support as you leaned in further. His face turned red out of embarrassment at the closeness.

"W-w-what the hell are you doing!?"

You didn't respond before hopping off the cross. You landed on all fours, circling the moss man before stopping in front of him, sitting down somewhat like a dog.

"Bird hears that you are demon in human skin, is that true?"

He reeled his head back in bewilderment at your way of speaking and the fact that you pretended that nothing happened.

"Ah- s-so what if I am!? That's none of your business!"

"Bird would have escaped sooner than moss man." You said bluntly, changing the subject completely.

"I've got more willpower than you. I will survive- Wait. What did you call me?"
"Moss man?"
"You got a lot of guts, Bird-brain!"
"Huh? How does Moss man know Part of Bird's name?"
"Are you stupid???"
"No, I am Bird."
"What kind of name is that?"
"It is name. Nothing else."
"It's stupid."
"Moss man is stupid."

By this time, his face turned red. You stared at him with blank eyes.

"Captain wants you as is nakama." You said, changing the topic completely yet again. At this time, Zoro didn't care anymore about your weird behavior and wanted you gone.

"Oh yeah? Well tell your captain he can shove his request up his-"
"Moss man is no demon."

He stopped. Yet again he was bewildered.

"What... what are you...?"
"Moss man is nothing but a dumb sad baby human who has himself to blame for pushing others away."
"SHUT UP, YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME OR WHERE I CANE FROM!!!"

You let him finish his angry rant. It was obvious he has been holding back everything. You could even see his eyes water a bit. After stopped, he huffed and puffed.

"... but so is (y/n)."

He lifted his head up to look at you, yet again shocked.

"(Y/n) is a bad bird. No. (Y/n) is a bad human. She always did a bad. And she payed for it. (Y/n) was never good kid. (Y/n) was bad kid. Bad bad bad kid."

It no longer seemed like you were talking to Zoro, but yourself. You pulled your knees up to your face. You narrowed your eyes, trying to stop the tears from pooling down your cheeks. He let you rock yourself while repeating those things. You then stopped and you both stared down at the ground. Just silent. Even the wind seemed to stop.

Zoro lifted his head, looking at you with blank eyes. You also looked up the same way, staring at him. It kind of... calmed you both. It was weird bonding with someone you didn't know. But it worked out somehow with you two. He looked down at the mushed up rice ball before looking back up at you in a slow manner. You knew what he wanted and picked up the dirty rice, holding it up to his mouth for him to consume.

Nothing bothered you two, not even the crunchy sound of dirt grinding between his teeth or the fact that Luffy has been watching the whole time, utterly confused about what you and moss man were doing.
