A part of me regretted sleeping with Jackson. There was something off about him, he didn't act as he did on our first date.
"Good morning." He smiles with his voice sounding raspy.
"Could you drive me to work?" I ask him and snatched the blanket around my body.
"I thought you still had a week off left." He questioned me and I gulp. I just needed some time alone.
"No yesterday was my last day. I thought I told you."
"Okay. Ten minutes." He says as he collapsed back in bed, not wanting to get up.
——
I walked to into work and my coworkers stared at me with every step i took. "Hey.. Katherine." I awkwardly sat next to her as she ate her breakfast. I haven't talked to anyone here in weeks.
"Look Kennedy, I know bad boy is exciting and all but you can't just take weeks off for him. It's not fair to us. I had to miss my momma's birthday because no one could cover for me."
I felt guilty. I didn't take time off because of him . I've been scared and didn't want to be near my dad.
"I'm sorry. I really am. I won't take any more time off." I tell her and she nodded as if she could care less.
"Do you really want to be with someone who's in a deadly business?" She quickly questioned me.
"He's a completely normal person." I rolled my eyes, not really wanting to hear her ramble off about who she thought he was. but something about Jackson lately was different.
She shook her head. "He better start telling you the truth if you're not going to believe me."
A deadly business? A deadly gang? Which is it. I start memorizing the gun in Nathan's pants and how Jackson didn't seem to care. How Ace seemed so hesitant to tell me who he is. The way he's been changing. Him usually being gone all night.
maybe I am beginning to believe he's deadly. I pulled Katherine aside, and she looked at me with complete seriousness. "I believe you."
"Good for you." she replies, scrunching her nose.
"No like, I need answers though. I don't know how to find out if he won't tell me."
She glanced at me once more before dropping the glasses of water on the table. "You need to follow him then." She shrugged. "Wherever he goes. Tell him your mom wanted you to stay with her for the night."
I nod, this might just work.
After work I told Jackson that my mom would be walking and taking me home since my dad hasn't been home for awhile. He didn't like that idea but said it was fine and he had business to take care of anyway.
As Jackson drove around a corner Katherine appears, honking her horn and telling me to get in. She sped up and we followed him for a long time.
"Come on give us something." Katherine muttered with her focus on him still.
We watched as he turned into the driveway of a house. Quickly we parked on the curb across from him. He got out the car and walked to the door, the lights came on as a girl came outside.
She smiled and he leaned in to kiss her sweetly on the cheek.
"I'm going to kill him." Was all I managed to say. Being with him was a waste of time.
I seen her taking his hand and she led him inside. I closed my eyes, all I could feel was hatred. My blood boiled, I wanted to kill him.
"Okay so he's still a womanizer. But we need more abo-" I cut her off with the glare I gave her.
"I seriously don't care who he is anymore. Take me home."
Her eyes were filled with sympathy.
