And one more thing before you read: how y'all like my new cover uwu
—x—x—x—
You lived in a world where you couldn't see colour. Well, not until you found your soulmate, at least. And, you've been seeing black and white all of your life now, but, it really is only high school you're in currently. But others... even your friends... they all seemed to have found their soulmates, while you're left alone. You questioned if... if you even had a soulmate, if they even existed, if they were already dead. But trying to cheer yourself up on the topic, you never spoke of such things. It was better to do that than to almost break up in tears if you did.
So one fateful day, your second year of attending the prestigious Hope's Peak Academy, you had managed to be wedged into a certain homeroom. You were supposedly the odd one out, every other class had 16 students while you were left out. The seventeenth student, the odd one out, the outcast. But you guessed you weren't completely left out, after all you had a talent like the rest, unlike the reserve course students.
You walked into class, clenching your bag tightly as you tried not to make any eye contact with anyone. 'No, no no (Y/n). If you make eye contact with even anyone then it'll be super awkward!' You took a seat in the back corner, coincidentally by the window. Unpacking some of your belongings, you looked down, flushed red in embarrassment at the thought of making a fool of yourself.
"Heeeeeey there!" A new voice came up, and you perked up in attention, looking at the person in front of you.
It was a rather short boy, adorned with grape purple hair, along with violet eyes. He seemed to be a playful one, you took note. But you stared at him, breath hitched. He had touched your arm in attention, and your eyes had widened.
You were staring at your soulmate. How else would you see his colour scheme? (HAH PLOT TWIST, BISH YOU THOT IT'D BE RANTATER TOT)
"You... I... Hey there." You said, trying to keep your mild excitement down. "I'm (L/n) (Y/n), U-Ultimate-"
"I know your ultimate already, you big dummy!" He exclaimed. "Hope's Peak has a website with all the new students, you don't have to get excited introducing yourself to the ultimate supreme leader, Ouma Kokichi. That's moi, if you didn't know."
"R-Right, sorry about that. I'm gonna go introduce myself to everyone, so I'm just gonna..." You kinda slipped past him, as he pouted, but didn't chase after you.
You made your way to a boy that had caught your attention. He had avocado coloured hair, and he seemed to have noticed you walking over, as he greeted you with a warm, closed-eye smile. Awkwardly, you returned it with a lopsided smile, sweating in nervousness. What if you screwed up introducing yourself??
"H-Hey, I'm (L/n) (Y/n)... U-Ultimate, um... I can't remember, ehehe..." GREAT GOING, YOU CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER YOUR OWN TALENT! GREAT GOING (Y/N)!
"That's all right," The boy said, brushing it off as if nothing was wrong. "I'm Amami Rantaro, Ultimate Adventurer."
You stared a bit at this Amami and realized you were staring at him, and you immediately looked down. "Hey, it was nice meeting you. I'm gonna go introduce myself-" And you tripped over someone and you gulped, waiting for the impact. It never came.
That was because this gentleman (tHAT'S GONTA'S JOB HHHHH-) that you had just met was holding you by the wrist, because apparently that's much safer than having someone grab your hand and squeeze it super tight. YOUR WRIST CANNOT DO SUCH THINGS, THIS MAN MUST LEARN HOW TO GRAB HANDS RIGHT-
"A-Ah, sorry about that..." You sheepishly chuckled, pulling yourself up with Amami's support. "I guess I'm just a bit unlucky, ahaha..."
"No, you're fine," Amami said, chuckling, although his smile was hiding something. "But you should really be more careful, you'll end up like Tsumiki one day. Ah, just her natural clumsy trait though, not completely her."
"Yeah, I get it. I owe you though, for saving me."
Amami shook his head, and waved his hand, gesturing for a no. But you, on the other hand, kept on insisting. It went like this for a while until the avocado admitted defeat. You smiled in victory, and that you'd treat this boyo for lunch. While he reluctantly accepted, he seemed a lot more nervous than what you had anticipated. Maybe he didn't want you to spend too much on a stranger like him? Yeah, probably.
You guys met up in the cafeteria, seated at a table that only you two shared. There wasn't much going on between you two, small talk was about the only thing that was shared. Until, Amami brought up a certain something....
"So, do you have a soulmate (L/n)-san?" Amami asked, tilting his head slightly.
"Ah, I do." You answered. "What about you, have you met yours? Since you're the Ultimate Adventurer, I'm sure you've seen them before."
"Yeah, I have seen them. Today, actually. I met them this morning. It feels weird, seeing colour. I thought it'd be great but I guess I need to get used to it."
"Yeah, I met my soulmate this morning too! I guess my eyes adjusted to the colour because I don't feel much different than before I was colorless." You frowned at your last statement. Were you really that different?
"Really? That must be nice, not feeling a bit uncomfortable." Amami said. (Damn you autocorrect for always putting Amani instead of Amami >:0000) "So, who is your soulmate, if you've met them this morning?" You noticed he was sweating a bit now.
"Oh, it's just this one person in class. Ouma, actually. I still don't feel any sort of attraction toward him though. He's a prankster, a liar, and a total prick. I feel like I connect a bit more with you though, even if you're hiding something behind that smile of yours." You frowned even deeper.
"O-Oh... Well, my soulmate," Amami began.
"Is you."

HAHAHA CLIFFHANGER WITH NO PART TWO IN TWO YEARS LOLOL
But anyways, I tried to change it up instead of the usual: a Reader meets soulmate (which is character requested or in title) and character's soulmate is reader, they have a bunch of fluffy moments, yada yada yada. This time I changed it, Ouma was a minor obstacle for Amami and Reader is very self conscious, who doesn't really want to question it because she's afraid she might do or say something wrong.
But don't let me bore you with analysis and stuff, have a great day and hopefully enjoy this chapter. (It's my longest chapter so far btw, I had so much fun writing it lmao)
