"How was the wedding?" Layla asked placing her drink on a table. Makayla and Layla were enjoying their lunch break at work. Usually they'd go out to lunch but money was running a little low, for the both of them.
"It was actually really nice, it was beautiful in there too, of course I didn't stay long."
"No one noticed you??"
"No, but Antonio talked to me."
"I thought you didn't get noticed?!"
"He didn't notice me, he asked me what my name was? Plus he barely seen my face."
"Oh...have you seen Diego?" Layla asked.

Layla wanted to go to Tony's wedding but she knew Diego couldn't see her. Diego and Layla were together before Makayla and Miguel knew each other. The first time Makayla met Miguel was through Layla. Diego was a very complicated man, he had been through a lot growing up. He has this anger in him that would slip out when he is irritated or frustrated. He's impatient, passionate, persistent, compliant, and obedient. "He'd make a great gang member one day"...

Layla worked at Italian restaurant, 'Due Venti'. It was so fancy and Italian she couldn't pronounce more than half of the menu. On holidays, the restaurant usually had people on a waiting list to get inside. They made great business, and Layla made good money.

However on one particular night, most of the town was at a popular carnival. There weren't many customers rolling in, nor a manager in sight.
She was scrubbing a table before she heard the restaurant door bell ding. A tall man took a seat at a counter booth.

"Hi, Welcome to Due Venti! If you're ready to take your order now?"

"I'll have a bottle of Jinn...please." The mans voice was deep and raspy.

"No problem, hun." Layla smiled.
However, he didn't smile back. Instead, he just starred at her. His eyes were cold and squint. As if he was confused about something. Layla felt a little uncomfortable.

"Here you go, sweetie". She said winking at him.

"It sucks, doesn't it?... you know being in here when everyone is out there?" Diego asked trying to start conversation."

"Actually, no it doesn't. Carnivals aren't really my crowd."

"What is your crowd, love?" Diego grinned

"I'm a concert type of girl. I like to go wild and just scream with my favorite music in the background, I like to dance and just feel judge free. You know? I want to let my hair down without people poking at it. Literally." She said with enthusiasm. All a long as Layla rambled on, Diego grew fond of her.

Diego is usually mean, quiet, and timid, but when he was around Layla he was relaxed. He has this soft spot that's full of love and affection in his heart. He was tender, and Layla loved every bit of it. She liked how he reserved himself for her and her only. He never smile, unless she was with him. He never laughed, unless she was talking with him. He never kissed, unless it was her lips. He never fucked, unless he was fucking her.

About a year later there was a fatal riot, gangs from the south, and north side of Texas went rouge and tried taking control over their conquered east and west. A trader told the gangs where The mob lord, El Señor was located and tried murdering him. Soon after, El Señor decided to gather the family. He told the men cut off ties with everyone, he needed their full attention and devotion. He put them under training again. Whatever El Señor says goes without question.

Diego was hesitant to let go of Layla, they were in love. He knew he couldn't, he knew if he did he would hurt her more than he was hurting himself. He visited her in secret, keeping her out of site from his brothers and El Señor's spies. He knew going against El Señor's word was asking for death but he loved her, he loved the only thing that made him see things in a different light. When they made love, he would grab her and tightly hug her body against his. As if he wanted to protect her, as if he never wanted to let her go. But his subconscious knew it was time.

To this very day, Layla and Diego remained single. But they could never bring themselves into dating anyone else. Their hearts wouldn't allow of it. "What's the point of finding new love when the person you will always truly love is still out there?"

Diego's POV
Now

The family were at Antonio's party, when Marco called for an emergency meeting in the court yard. We were all waiting for Marcus to arrive.

"Jesus, call em." Hayden said impatiently.

Jesus pulled out his phone, and called Marcus.
"Putta we waiting on you bro.." He rolled his eyes.
"...what you mean you didn't know?!..."
"...just get in here!!..."
"....oh for real??.."
"...aye, give her a kiss for me yo!..."

"Jesus." Antonio warned.

"Bien, maldita sea." He hung up his phone.
("Alright, Damn.")

A couple minutes later Marcus came stumbling in. Miguel rolled his eyes.

"Why are you late?" Miguel said irritated.

"It was this cute fat bitch-" Marcus went on

"That's not an excuse. I swear Marcus one more thing out of you." Miguel warned frustrated.

"The reason I called for this meeting is because some of us seen something at Tony's wedding yesterday..." Marco stated.

"What did you guys see?" Miguel asked us brothers curiously.

"We've seen Makayla.." Antonio said. Miguel stared in his brothers eyes.
He was silent and it killed his brothers. All kinds of emotions wrapped in his head, and shown through his eyes. They could tell something was bothering him. But, his ego would only play it off.

"Who Makayla?" Alex asked confused.

"She's Miguel's ex, and she hated me.." Marcus and Jesus laughed.
"She hated all of us." Hayden corrected.

"...and?" Miguel swallowed, fearing there's more to the story.

"She might have your child." Marco said bluntly.
