~~Rose's POV~~
She was staring at me. This would be about the time my face flushed red, but my blood doesn't seem to be flowing properly.
I heard something. Something very disturbing. It can easily be mistaken for a helicopter, tractor or anything that makes a big rumbling noise. Oh how I wish it was them. Instead, a horde of zombies came stumbling through the trees. Reminds me of me in the morning, not good. I see her expression as she tries to get up, falling immediately. Cursing, she fell into my arms.
"G-got you..." I said the best I could. She's probably gonna freak out, but she seems calm. A bit too calm.
"Cabin in that direction!" She yells as she gets off me, and starts limping, with my assistance. I would be in a hurry, but these zombies are slower than a turtle.
Shaking? She was shaking? She was full off fear. Why? I hope she doesn't think I'm a threat.
The girl was taking lead, twisting and turning. How did she know where to go? This place is massive! "I'm going to let you in my place, but I'm going to have to tie you up for a while." She mutters.
"W-what?!" I chocked in my words.
"Sorry, I know your not zombie right now, but just incase you do eventually turn, I don't want to be first on the menu," Of course. She still thinks I'm a zombie. Typical, I understand though, and I'm not in the mood to argue. I continued without another word, that was until I got dragged into a doorway. Who did that?! Oh. Damn it... What's her name? I'll ask her later.
She used the wall to assist her, locking the door again.
She's still shaking. She's shaking so much... Poor girl. Is she crying? Oh my god. I kneel up and shuffle towards her.
"Are you okay?..." I ask in a small whisper.
"Please don't eat me.. I dont wanna die... I finally escape my dad and I'm still gonna die!" Tears where hitting the floor now. Poor girl... I lean towards her and pull her into my arms. It seems like she doesn't care anymore, she just needs a shoulder to cry on.
Her arms tighten around me. I can tell she's been needing a hug. The way she just broke down, it broke my heart.
"What's your name?" I ask in a croaky voice.
"S-sorry... It's Hunter." She replied in between sniffs.
"I'm rose.." I say to her. Hunter? I love that name! Non binary, and represents somebody tough. Damn.
"That's a nice name.." she whispers, I've got a feeling she's going to fall asleep soon. I start to rub her back, to speed up the process. "If I fall asleep, promise not to kill me?" She chuckles lightly. I nod in response, and a small giggle escape my lips.
Her breathing has softened, aswell as her heartbeat, showing she has drifted off. I stop rubbing her back and just hold her for a while, listening as the horde get lost in a different direction. The noises finally fade away after an hour and a half, and all I'm left with is the musical heart beat of Hunter. It's so peaceful now.
I position my back against the wooden wall, and let my eyes drift off, with Hunter resting in my arms. Despite it being a zombie apocalypse and all, it was one of the most peaceful sleeps I've ever had.
