Marinette walked into the school and caught sight of Alya. Just as she was about to walk up to her she heard a voice, "Hey Marinette!"

Marinette turned around to see Luka, smiling. Marinette smiled.

She had missed Luka's smile. It always brought her joy.

"Um, I need to ask you something," Luka said.

Marinette couldn't help but notice the slightly afraid look on his face. "Okay then, ask." Marinette said.

Luka took a deep breath. "Will you go out with me?"

Marinette's jaw dropped.

What do I do? What do I do? I wanna say yes. But at the same time, I wanna say no. Cause I like Adrien! Not Luka! But...

... I'm gonna say yes.

"Ye—." Marinette started, but she felt a hand on her arm, yanking her away.

Why? Just why?

Adrien got out of the limo and raised up the steps into school. Nino ran up to him.

"Can you believe that guy killed me? I was on a streak! A really long streak!" Nino complained, talking about Ultimate Mecha Strike III, which they played together last night before Chat Noir and Ladybug did Patrol I skipped Patrol because I didn't plan anything to happen in that. together.

Adrien zoned out, not listening to Nino ramble about his "streak." He was thinking about what Master Fu had said.

Until, "Hey Marinette!"

Adrien looked around and saw Luka walking up to Marinette. Even worse, he saw her smile. Adrien made a disgusted face, though he didn't know why.

"Hey, Nino. I gotta go." Adrien informed his friend and walked towards Marinette and Luka. Once he realized what he was doing he quickly walked the other way, but was close enough to hear them.

What am I doing?! I'm acting like a fool! Just say hi, Adrien! But he didn't find himself moving. He was just standing there, waiting for them to say something.

"Um, I need to ask you something." Adrien heard. Luka was speaking.

"Okay then. Ask." A female voice said. Marinette, obviously.

There was a deep breath. Then, "Will you go out with me?"

Adrien waited for Marinette to say no. But instead, there was a long silence. Adrien knew he had to do something. He ran over to Marinette.

He grabbed her arm and yanked her away. But at the same time, his heart broke. Seconds before he grabbed Marinette's arm he had heard her start to say something.

"Ye—."

She was going to say yes. Why am I bothered by this?!

Adrien was in silence. A heart-broken kind of silence. Although he should've been silenced after he thought of an excuse as to why he had pulled Marinette away from Luka. "Um... Adrien? Do you need something from me?" Marinette asked, giving a nervous laugh.

"Uh... y-yeah, actually. I was wondering if you could... um..." Adrien thought.

Real smooth, kid. Plagg thought, who was inside Adrien's jacket, secretly peeking out at the scene, eating Camembert as a replacement for popcorn.

"You needed help with homework." Plagg helped, whispering so only Adrien could hear.

"I needed help with homework and since you're so smart I thought you could help!" Adrien said, a little too brightly.

"Um... okay, what specific part do you need help with?" Marinette asked.
"Uh... Chemistry!" Adrien lied.

Huh, chemistry.

"We didn't have Chemistry..."

"You are such an idiot, say you need it to be checked!" Plagg whisper-shouted.

"You are such an—." Adrien started before he felt a tiny hand slap him. "Um, I need it to be checked."

"Alright..." Marinette said, sounding confused.

"Flawless, nothing is wrong," Marinette said, handing Adrien his work.

"Oh, hehe, g-great," Adrien said, trying to sound cheerful.

"Okay..." Marinette said. Then, "Adrien, is something wrong?"

Adrien looked up. "N-no. Everything's fine." Adrien lied.

"Are you sure?" Marinette asked, using that concerned grown-up voice that everyone hates but appreciates.

Tbh, I usually hate it.

"Yes! Okay?!" Adrien snapped, walking away.

Marinette was wide-eyed. She was glued to where she was standing. She heard her purse click open, Tikki was confused too.

Adrien looked over his shoulder quickly to see a confused Marinette. Well, there goes one friend. How could I screw up? Even with her? The only girl that likes me? And only me? Not my money and looks?

...

I'm starting to see why I did everything I've done.

He saw something red in Marinette's purse but he had looked away, thinking it was just a trick of the light.

... Smooth Adrien... real smooth.
