"grandma tell me a story!" a little girl shouted. people from the farmers market smiled at the sight. the girl was tugging at the end of the old woman's hanbok, desperately trying to get her attention.

the old woman chuckled and bent down towards her grandchild's height, "if you be a good girl and help your grandma, i'll tell you a story tonight before you go to bed."

the little girl smiled and throughout the remainder of the trip to the market helped her grandmother with picking out groceries that would be needed for dinner that night.

when the two made it home the grandmother quickly rushed to the kitchen. grabbing the fresh ingredients, she decided to make guk and rice. her oldest daughter was going to be there tonight and she wanted to make sure both her daughter and her husband had enough to eat.

the little girl sat impatiently watching her grandmother cook. she knew better than to disturb her - last time she did she had gotten whacked in the head.

"do you need any help?" the child asked.

the grandmother looked at her grandchild and tiredly smiled, "no. why don't you go outside and tend to the animals while i cook?"

an hour and a half later the little girl looked up from feeding the chickens to see a carriage make there way towards her. "mom! dad!"  the girl cried as she ran towards them.

the mother picked her up and held her daughter tightly towards her, "are you okay? where's grandma?"

"she's inside cooking. i was feeding the chickens. see?" the child pointed at the chickens who were too busy eating to notice the arrival of the girls parents.

the dad laughed. "well let's go inside and eat darling. i'm starving!"

after eating and spending time with her family, the little girl sat in bed anxiously waiting for her grandmother. she couldn't wait to hear what story she told her today.

"finally!" the little girl exclaimed as she watched her grandmother walk into her room, "i've been waiting all day for you to tell me a story. what story are you going to tell now?"

the old grandmother sat down beside the child's bed and laughed. "today i'm going to tell you a love story."

"between a princess and a prince?"

"no. a love story that was forbidden from the start."
