REIGN SCOWLED DOWN at her Ancient Runes homework, she regretted ever taking the subject as an O.W.L, it was downright boring. Professor Babbling had instructed the class to design eight of their own runes and give detailed explanations on each one, taking inspiration from already existing runes, and needless to say, Reign hated it. Despite her wildly creative mind (something that often came in handy when drafting up prank ideas), she'd never been one to draw, partly because she didn't have the patience and partly because she absolutely sucked at any type of illustrations. Art was just not her strong point.

With a dissatisfied sigh, Reign balled up the parchment and chucked it across the room, narrowly missing Raven D'Stefano's head.

"What was that for!?" Raven half-shouted.

"This is pissing me off! Ancient Runes is shitty and utterly pointless," Reign huffed.

"Language!" Eugenia Selwyn, another one of Reign's dorm mates, called from her space on the floor where she, too, worked on her Ancient Runes homework.

Morgan Nott snorted. "The day you get Reign to stop cursing is the day hell freezes over."

"How are you doing this, Eugenia?" Reign demanded. "It is wholly impossible."

Eugenia put her quill down and turned to Reign. "Reign, it's not impossible, I'm sure Babbling doesn't care what your rune looks like as long as you've given a valid explanation as to what it is."

"Well, I care!" Reign huffed. "You know what?"

"What?" Julianna Macmillan asked, bored.

"You lot are useless, I'm going to go see if Reese can help." With a single swift movement, Reign was on her feet and by the door with her Ancient Runes book in hand.

"While you're doing that can you get me a date with Travers?" Morgan pleaded. Ever since she'd met Julian, Reign's dorm mate had been head-over-heels in love with him.

"No," Reign replied blandly and then she shut the door behind her.

After arriving outside Reese's door, Reign moved her hand to the doorknob and began to twist it open, but she faltered when she heard shouts coming from inside the room. Making sure to be as quiet as she possibly could, she pressed her ear up against the door and tried to listen in.

"I think you're both blowing this way out of proportion," she heard a muffled voice say, she recognised it as one of Reese and Julian's dorm mates, Spencer Dippet.

"Shut up, Spencer!" two very familiar voices chorused.

"Why are you being so difficult?" Julian said.

"BECAUSE THIS ISN'T JUST SOME RANDOM PERSON WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!" Reign had never heard Reese so angry.

"YOU DON'T THINK I KNOW THAT!?" Julian yelled back, and then much more softly, "You don't think I know what we're risking right now?"

"No, I don't think so!" Reese bellowed.

Then before Reign could comprehend it, heavy footsteps headed her way and the door swung open. Reese barely glanced at her before he pushed past and stormed down to the Common Room.

Julian stood in the centre of the room, breathing raggedly with his hands balled up into fists at his side. His face was flushed in what was, evidently, anger, the crimson colour clashed violently with the pale-white of his combed-back hair.

"What the hell was that about?" Reign demanded.

Julian didn't even look at her when he growled, "It's none of your business."
