There comes a time when certain series of images seem to flash before our very eyes that takes us to some distant space in time -- whether it’s a reminder of a memory or a result of constant what-ifs playing through our heads.

What makes these series of images quite different from anything else is the impact it leaves once it stuns us the moment it hits us between the eyes. Was it a play of what might happen in the future or was it simply just a reflection of our own hopes and dreams, or even our darkest fears?

Maybe that’s the point. We can’t help but wonder what that was. We can’t help but wonder what it means or where it will lead us and in the end we over think all of the possibilities that may have happened or will happen.

These dreams Amanda was having, are they simply figments of her imagination or were they some sort of a premonition of something bound to happen? But if it was a premonition or a warning, what was it warning her from? And why hasn’t anything bad happened to her after all this time?

But something bad did almost happen to her. She nearly got hit by a car.

No. It may have been just a coincidence. Besides, it was not like it happened out of bad luck since she may have been at fault. If it was an omen, then she may have had a terrible fate that day no matter what. Yet here she is today, thinking about all of these things so no, it could not have been a premonition.

She could only hope that these dreams would finally show their real purpose and stop haunting her in her sleep. She can’t go on like this forever.

Monday came quite as fast as it could come yet by that time, the hype that Amanda had been feeling for the last couple of days had already died down.

As much as she did not want the dream to get in the way of her spirits, she’s been restless ever since. And during her idle hours the day before, she did not want to fall to sleep because she was scared of going back to that terrifying dream.

By the time Amanda had reached their work area to work that day, she noticed a couple of female co-workers huddled in one area talking about the party that night. They were all giggling while talking about what they would wear and what style their hair should be. Others were discussing the important people that are listed on the programme who would be sharing a few words about the partnership.

One of the ladies from the giggling group of female co-workers noticed Amanda approaching her desk and waved at Amanda who was limping to get to her desk. Her foot was better but she still had to limp from time to time.

“Hey, Amanda! What are you going to wear later tonight?”

Amanda gave an awkward smile while putting down her bag on her desk before replying, “I might just be wearing a simple formal dress tonight. I didn’t really get to prepare because of my sprained foot.”

“I’m sure you’ll still be pretty tonight, anyway.”

“Thanks,” Amanda replied and she limped on her way to sit down across her desk.

Because of the party later that night, they had half of the day off to prepare for the event. They have also just been given their formal invitation and a copy of the programme of the party as soon as they arrived at work.

She reached for the programme and decided to read the names of the executives from Golden Gate Publishing.

Of course, on top of the list of names was Mr. James Brady, the CEO of Golden Gate Publishing followed by Lisa Wagner, President, Thomas McNeil, Vice President, and so on. Then her eyes fell on the name, Philip Leary, Director of Internal Affairs and she wondered where she’d seen or heard the name before. It seems awfully familiar.
