GENERALLY A quiet man, most people assumed that Bruce Banner just kept to himself. He had dabbled in friendships, but resolved to keep most people at arms length. Unlucky enough, not everyone was satisfied with keeping their distance from the man. In a haze of fond emotion he had perhaps let his guard down around a particularly intelligent and persistent scientist working in his lab.
"See I don't understand why you're including any quantum mechanical equations in this. The application to this particular situation is so small it's negligible, and it seems like you're over complicating it by trying to fit it in here--" She flitted her fingers across the floating screen, observing his calculations skeptically.
"(Y/N)," Bruce called to stop her rambling.
"No, Bruce, I trust your judgement, but I'm saying that this is still one of many experiments. Surely if we don't apply it here and it goes poorly we can try it on the next round-"
"(Y/N)," he tried louder, ceasing the work his hands were doing over a machine. He came around the table to stand in front of her, but she stared on at the screen in between them.
"I'm not being a Schrodinger, Bruce, I'm not criticizing the value of quantum mechanics, I'm just--"
"(Y/N)! My love!" Bruce placed a hand over hers, stopping her finger from clicking the mouse. Her eyes shot to his as she shooed the floating screen away with a stunned wave of her hand.
They stood staring at each other for a moment, neither one knowing how to confront Bruce's outburst, or I daresay, confession.
"I-I—we don't have to include it. I think we should go. We should go eat," his quiet voice cut through the silence.
"We should eat. We should eat together, ya," she agreed, wrapping her mind around his request.
They stood in silence for a minute more, gazing at each other, trying to decipher the tension. She cleared her throat.
