Virgil'sPOV:

"Do I really have to? I don't want to get rid of any of my things." I whine to Logan as he hands me a box.

"Yes, Virgil. I am more than sure you are not using every single item inside your room. Not to mention that Patton was excited for everyone to be participating in giving to charity. Once we are done in our rooms we are all going to clean the attic."

"Fine, but I'm only doing this to make dad happy."

Logan just smiles and kisses my cheek before going to his room while holding his own box. I get the whole giving to the less fortunate but who is going to want my things? No one. So why do I even bother?

Oh yeah, Dad.

I guess if it makes him happy I'll throw in some things I don't wear anymore. I open my closet and start digging through the drawers I have at the bottom. Most of the clothes in there are either too small, into the box they go, or too bright for my taste, goodbye highlighter pink socks. I come across a light blue shirt that must be years old by now. The picture is a black kitten with the phrase, "Me-wow" printed on it. I snort at the pun and throw it in the box and go back to digging.

When the drawers are done, I am still thinking about that shirt. It was obviously too small and worn for me to have received recently, but I can't shake the feeling that I shouldn't get rid of it. I dig it out from the box and hold it out in front of me. Where did it come from? When did it come from? I think about it for a good two minutes before the memory hits me like a truck.

Flashback

Oh god, this is scary. Everything is new and bright and new and loud and I don't know how to react. Dad says it'll be fine so that is a bit reassuring. He promises not to let go of my hand until I feel comfortable and that my new shirt is very cute. Dad keeps a hold on my hand as we walk through what looks to be a field of some sorts, and away from the little place I've called home ever since I came into existence.

Dad always visited every other day and I was happy it was just the two of us in our little house, but this visit was different. Instead of tucking me in and leaving, Dad was taking me with him to where he slept. He said he didn't want to leave me anymore and thought it was time to introduce me to the rest of the family.

I didn't know there was more than just Dad and I but I guess I'll see whenever we get there. These new people, Princey and Teach, that Dad talks about all the time seem pretty cool so it can't be too bad. Plus, Dad said Princey made this shirt just for me. Dad asked him to make it purple but it accidentally came out blue, I still love it though.

Dad stops at this big door and looks down at me with a smile. He asked me if I was ready to meet everyone and I just nodded my head while holding onto his hand tighter.

Flashback end

I snap out of my thought as there is a knock on the door and a voice telling me lunch is ready. Too distracted to recognize the voice I just say I'll be down soon. I turn back to the shirt and hold it a bit tighter.

There is no way in hell I'm getting rid of this. It's the first thing I ever got from the sides, from Dad. I can't just give it away like it's nothing.

I place the shirt back in the drawers and make my way downstairs to eat lunch. I don't bring it up with my boyfriend, I just nod when Dad asks if I finished with my box, and I listen as Roman complains about the attic. Hopefully, that won't bring up anymore flashbacks but I have a feeling it just might.
