"Run Aviva!" I hear Liana cheering me on from the sidelines. Even though my lungs are on fire and I can't breath, I push on. Running the mile in P.E. is never fun, and thus is something that I never want to do. But I have to. I keep chanting to myself, "Keep going, lunch is next period. Keep going." That's the only thing that keeps me motivated. Aside the fact that my best friend is screaming at me.
As I cross the finish line Mr. Jensen the evil P.E. teacher stops the watch and calls out my time.
"7:32! Could've done better Giles!" He calls everyone by their last names. It bothers me, but I don't call him out on it for fear he'll eat out my eyeballs.
"Sorry coach." I say and I jog (slowly, ain't nobody got time for more running!) toward Liana. As I approach I feel my clumsy feet stumble, and before I know it I'm on the grass looking up at Liana.
"Of all the times to trip, you choose now?" She says looking down at me. The sun is behind her and I have to squint.
"The grass has something against me I'm telling you." I say pushing myself up and brushing off my shorts. I hear snickering beside us and see that the walking hoard of perfume and makeup are out on the field.
"Tripped again Aviva?" The head of the pack yells to us. Her face is plastered with makeup and I can smell the mix of perfume and cigarettes coming off of her from twenty feet away.
"Yes, as I was telling dear Liana here, 'The grass has something against me.'"
"Whatever, weirdo." She scoffed.
"Let's go eat lunch!" I say after we watch the clan of populars walk away.
"Yeah! And guess what day it is?" Liana says.
"Pizza day!" We say together as we rush toward the cafeteria to stand in the trail of people also waiting for pizza.
"This is taking to long!" Liana whines after what seems like an hour. But the click begs to differ. According to that stupid thing, it's only been one minute.
"I agree. Should we go get salads?" I say noticing how short that line is.
We exchange glances and then burst out laughing. Every Tuesday is pizza day, and never once have we ever missed it. We aren't going to start now.
We wait for another five minutes and finally we are to the food. We each grab a piece, I grab cheese and Liana grabs pepperoni, then pay and go sit down at our normal table. We see that our other friends are already there.
"Well if it isn't Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb." Tod, one of our other friends said. I shoot him a glare and he goes back to eating his mashed potatoes.
"What took you guys so long?" Karen, another friend asked.
"She was running the mile." Liana hooked her thumb at me.
"With Jensen?" She asked, horrified.
"Yeah. Jeez he's a nightmare." Is say stuffing the pizza into my mouth.
"Take a breath!" Karen says.
"Can't breathe, must eat!" I say and Liana just nods as she also has food stuffed in her face.
After we finish eating, we have a half an hour to waste until next period so we spend it as we usually do, chatting casually about almost everything.
"So Liana," Tod starts after an awkward silence.
Karen and I exchange glances. Tod has had a crush on Liana since 6th grade but he has been afraid to ask her out. Karen finally convinced him to do it.
"Do you want to go-" he starts.
"Aviva! I have to show you something in my locker!" Liana interrupts.
"But I think Tod was trying to say something."
"Whatever it is, it can wait right?" She says sweetly, glancing at him.
"Yeah, yeah it can." He says. Relief and disappointment cloud his face.
Liana and I get up and walk to her locker. The walk isn't very long as her locker is right next to the cafeteria.
My phone moves and I count the buzzes.
One.
Two.
Three.
Three buzzes.
There is an emergency and I need to go now.
"Sorry Li, I've got to go."
"Where? What about history? You can't leave me hanging with Ms. Smith!"
"Sorry, I really have to go."
"Oh, ok." She says slightly disappointed.
"Who knows, I might even be back in time for history!"
"Well don't take too long!"
I take off out the front door and sprint to my car. I slam the door closed and start the engine. It sputters then dies. I try again and this time it ignites. I pull out of the driveway and home. The drive only takes five minutes. As I walk up to the front door, I feel my phone buzz three times again.
I open the front door to see my parents waiting for me.

HAY GUISE!
So I wrote this chapter three times, because I kept on forgetting to save it. -_-
So after retyping it like three times
HERE IT IS!
I really hope it's long enough, I am so bad at judging chapter lengths.... So in other words, don't really look forward to nice, long chapters when I write them! I try, but a lot if the times, it don't work.
Anywho,
(Why in the world do I keep saying that?!)
