Finishing up my math, I close my binder and put in back into my backpack. Happy that I finished my homework, I decide to watch some tv to award myself for my effort. I plop onto my white bean bag and turn on the tv.
"Liana! You should start on these college applications!" My mom shouts.
Dang it! When did she get home? Isn't Zandr-wait no she and her boyfriend went to go somewhere. I just want to relax! Groaning, I get up from my bean bag and turn off my flat screen.
You could say I was spoiled, but in reality, my parents just like spending money. I'm not complaining, I get new things all the time, but I have too much things. But on a serious note, how many chairs do I need in my room!? I swear my parents want me to have a collection of chairs or something!
"Liana!" She shouted again.
Crud I forgot about going to the living room. Quickly I get there and slide my feet against the oak wood flooring into the living room.
"Sorry mom!" I smile, taking my seat on the couch across from her.
Man, is this couch new? It feels new, I don't remember it the cushion being hard. It's still black, has the same pillows...oh I'm sitting on box. Moving the box, I look back up to have eye contact with my mom. Her face shows disappointment.
Meaning I did something to tick her off. What did I do this time? Maybe it's because I sat on the box? Was it because of me always spacing out? Or my grades? But my grades are Bs right now...or is it?
"Didn't I tell you to stop that habit of yours?" she sighed, taking her thumb and pointer finger to rub between her eye brows.
"What habit?" I ask, clearly confused.
"Sliding every time you enter the living room! It's not lady like!" My mother snapped.
Oh, that habit. I always have been sliding into the living room since I was si-wait did she seriously said lady like?
"Lady like!?" I burst out laughing, "Mom, do I have to remind you that we aren't at all a perfect proper family to begin with?"
"We could begin to be if you grew up and became a normal teenage girl!"
"There's no such thing as normal." I point out.
"My lord, please forgive my daughter's improper ways."
Great, there she goes, trying to be all religious. She isn't even religious, yet makes us go to church for our sake. I remember dad muttering that mom made us go to church just for a good family image.
"Didn't you want me to come here to do something, not to argue with me?" I sigh, use of her craziness.
"Right, and don't think that since you changed the topic, that you could get away. We will have this talk another time."
"Yeah whatever, anyways where's the applications?" I roll my eyes.
"Don't you roll your eyes." she frowned.
"Mom, the college applications are calling for us."
"Here, I decided Yale University that's in New Haven and Harvard University in Cambridge." She says, ignoring my comment.
Did she seriously just list the two top ranked law universities? Yes, yes she did.
"I thought we talked about this, I'm not majoring in law. In fact, I don't even know understand a thing about law!" I frown.
"Zandra said the same thing and look, she's doing online classes and has a job."
"That's because she didn't say what I said. She said, I'm gonna fail, no one will choose me." I mimic my sister, remembering her stressing out for no reason.
"Come on, working isn't suppose to be fun."
"Which leads to a unhappy life and I die alone."
"That's not true, look at m-"
My mom gets cut off from the sound of knocking. She gets up and opens the front door. Leaving me alone, on the couch. So I get up, following her to the front door.
"Aviva dear! What a surprise to see you!" my mom says.
"Liana is here right?"
"Na I'm dead!" I shout, walking towards the door.
"You sure look dead." she laughs.
"Anyways what are you doing here?"
"Well I forgot to ask for notes for history, I need them. I heard we have a quiz tomorrow." Aviva sighs.
"We what?!" I shout.
"Come on in, you and Liana can study. I suppose Liana didn't study at all." my mom invites her in.
"Thank you, I'm sure she needs the studying." Aviva laughs.
Walking to my room, my mom shouts, "Aviva, convince her to major in law!"
"Mom seriously!?" I shout back at her.
Great, she's trying to use Aviva to convince me to become a lawyer.
Perfect, just perfect. This is pure perfection.
