Percy's POV:
My world was crashing down around me. I couldn't do it again. I couldn't grow close to these people and then have them die all because I couldn't protect them.
Anthony flashed before my eyes. He would've wanted me to do it. He would've wanted me to help people and not just give up because of him. I felt disgusted with myself. I was thinking about turning down an offer to help people all because I was afraid.
I steeled myself as I came to the decision that I was acting like a coward.
Walking through the door felt like going through Tartarus all over again. My feet felt heavy as I willed myself towards the group of people at the end of the hallway.
As they turned to look at me, I quickly opened my mouth and said the words that would begin my new life.
"I'll do it! I'll join the Avengers."
Spangled smiled at me and I smiled back. Partially because I didn't want to be rude, but also because I knew that wherever he was, Anthony would be proud of me.
"So...what now?" I asked awkwardly.
They all stared at me before a guy I'd never seen cleared his throat.
"Well now we head back to the tower I guess. When we get there somebody will show you where your room is."
"Whoa, whoa, wait. I'm staying with you guys?"
"Did you think we were going to make you stay in an apartment or something? You're one of us now."
I was awestruck. Maybe this would be better than I thought it would. Maybe this could become my family.
