The girl ran through the forest, faster than a normal human should be able to do with out breaking a sweat. She was grumbling to her self the entire time.
"What is it with princesses and getting captured." She muttered curses under her breath as a branch hit her in the head. "La de freaking da, let's just go and ruin someone's perfectly good day", she was clearly in a bad mood.
The king had demanded every bounty hunter to the castle and demanded that his daughter was found, which she would have typically ignored, but he then threatened that for each day that his daughter not be returned one of the bounty hunters would be selected and executed. Everyone knew that the king had an extremely powerful scourceress under his command so a threat like that was not out of the question.
Her train of thought was broken as she spotted the cave enterance and her entire demeanor changed. She walked silently as she notched an arrow on the bow she had been carrying.
She made no noise as she entered the cave carefully avoiding the bodies littering the floor, many that were fresh enough to still be warm.
She stayed low to the ground as she made her way deeper into the cave and checking around every corner. She was tense, ready to attack anything that challenged her.
As she checked around the next corner she froze, seeing the beast she needed to kill.
It was easily 20 feet long, it's wingspan most likely double that. It's blood red scales glistened as it breathed in and out.
She gently stepped towards the figure huddled in the corner, the person had scratch marks covering her arms with a few in her face and her arms and legs were bound together.
The girl seemed to be able to step without making a noise and she had soon made her way over to the girl. She picked the girl up, bridal style, but forgot to account for the fact that the princess had no mouth gag.
The princess loudly yelped as she was suddenly moved and her rescuer began to cuss under her breath.
She dropped the princes and ignored said princesses protests as she quickly untied her legs. The dragon was stirring and the girl didn't have long untill she was toast, literally.
"Run. Wait outside the cave" the girl ordered as she notched an arrow in her bow. The princess hadn't moved and was silently staring at her rescuer.
"Run unless you want to be a roasted lunch for the dragon" the girl snapped and the princess finally got the hint. She quickly got up and sprinted out of the cave as the dragon fully woke up and roared in anger when it found its prize gone.
"Hey, fluffy" the girl yelled, quickly getting the dragons attention. She quickly dodged a stream of fire and shot her arrow as the dragon was preparing another attack.
The arrow hit its mark and the dragon screeched as one of its eyes was now adorned with the feathered end of an arrow.
"Over here you overgrown lizard" the girl yelled again but as she was notching an arrow she was caught off guard by the dragons tail, which consequently slammed her against a wall with a sickening crunch, she grunted in pain and went grab her bow only to find that it was snapped in half.
"Well now look what you've done" The girl grumbled as she reached down and grabbed two twin daggers from her boots. She twirled them in her hands and the deadly look would have sent any sane person running.
"Come and get it lizzy" She growled and charged the enraged dragon, rolling to avoid the fire, and leaped higher than should be possible and landed on the back of the dragon.
The beast roared as she dug her knives in between the blood red scales of the beast. She moved quickly as she grabbed her knives and sprinted up to the head of the dragon, jabbing her knife into the dragons other eye.
The beast roared in pain and thrashed its head, throwing her off once again. The girl hit the ground but before she could get up the dragons sense of smell led it to her. The dragon placed its claw on her chest and she cried out in pain as the talons dug into her skin. A deep rumbling came from the dragons throat, almost like it was laughing at her.
The girl tried to escape its grasp but the dragons grip was tight. The dragon opened its mouth wide and a plan popped into the girls mind. She gripped one of her knifes and in one smooth movement freed her arm, leaving a deep gash but she had more things to worry about such as being charbroiled. The girl waited until the dragons mouth was nearly touching her face before she, in one smooth move, stabbed the knife into the top of the dragons mouth.
The dragon released her and she used this opportunity to escape, knowing she couldn't kill the dragon without killing herself along with it.
She gripped her bleeding arm and took short breaths as to not disturb her most likely broken rib.
She exited the cave to find a path of footprints leading into the forest. A stream of profanities left the girl mouth but she was interrupted by a sharp scream cutting through the air.
"I ask for one thing" the girl grumbled as she limped into the forest.
