"Eden, don't touch that!"

Eden's older brother exclaimed, as the young girl was reaching for the dead rabbit.

Eden quickly retracted her tiny fingers away from the bunny, who was unfortunate enough to get caught in the trap.

"Sorry," She whispered, taking a timid step back.

Her brother, Askel, squats before the trap; easily untangling the bloodied rabbit from the sharp claws of the trap.

"Father will be proud?" Eden questions softly.

Her nine year old head not fully catching the idea of hunting; or anything harmful for that matter. She was young, which made everyone more protective of the small girl.

Askel glances at her and smiles, "Of course."

Askel was fourteen, which made him prime age for things related to hunting. He was wise, considering his younger age. He knew odd techniques to trap an animal quicker, considering the consistent training from their father. That was why the two were out in the woods, while the sun slowly creeped behind the horizon.

Eden never understood the importance of hunting, in fact, she felt horrible for the animal. A slow death at the hands of something unknown; an animal who would spend his last few minutes trying to escape - crying out for help.

Eden teared up at the thought, but quickly swept her saddened mood away. Eden's brother brought her out on this trip, because he wanted to show her what she would be doing as she grows older in age.

Starting simple.

Eden heard a faint scream and she instantly cocked her head toward the noise.

"Did you hear that?" She squeaked.

Askel dropped the rabbit near the tree, slowly nodding.

"Come on," His voice was low, "stay close." Askel demanded.

Eden whispered, "Okay."

The pair quickly made their way back through the woods, the screaming becoming more audible.

When Askel and Eden arrived in their small village they called home, everything was in chaos; people were dead and the streets were painted in crimson blood.

Askel visibly tensed when he saw their father getting overtaken by three bulky men with large swords.

"Father!" Askel shouted, catching the attention of unfamiliar men.

Once their father picked them out from the crowd, his eyes widened in horror, "Run, get Eden to safety!" Their father cried.

That one moment of distraction for her father, would cause destruction on the young girl for the rest of her life.
