Stealing My Heart

Chapter 1

"Come on Joy, tell me where they are." I said through my little mic. I was on a mission to catch two teenage guys who had guns and was taking other students hostage. I had to find out where these kids were before they start shooting innocent kids.

I was walking through the school with Jacobs, he was one of the guys that always stays with me on these types of missions.  

"We need to know where they are Harrison." Jacobs said. The department calls Joy by here last name which is Harrison, but her being my best friend, I just call her by her first name. Plus it's easier and shorter to say.

"Almost done guys." she said after a long pause. "Got it! They are walking towards the library."

"Where is that?" asked Jacobs.

"Your next right, and then there should be double doors on your left." she said as we reached those doors. "Oh and Aria, be safe." she side commented.

"Always am Joy." I said and we broke through the doors and found those boys. 

"Drop those guns!" yelled Jacobs. That's when they pointed them at us.

"Why don't you let all these kids go, they're innocent." I told them.

"Guys, I found another link, someone is controlling those boys. He's located in a van near the school. I'm calling back up." Joy said. I just looked up at Jacobs and he nodded.

"We know you really don't want to hurt anyone." I began. "It's okay, we are here to help you. Please put the gun down." the boys looked at each other with panic and fear.

"I..I..we.." one stuttered.

I took a step closer to them. "It's okay, put the guns down." I said again. They looked at me and one of them began to put their gun down.

"Don't do that Nick!" the stubborn one said. 

"I'm tired of this!" the other one said.

"Rogan and the gang caught the guy, you guys just need to safely get the guns." reported Joy. Now it's all up to me. 

"We can all work this out together, just put the guns down." I said again. The good one, put the gun down, but the other one then pointed a gun at him.

"Come on Taylor, they caught the guy, we are safe, just put it down." Nick said, which I caught his name by Taylor.

"This isn't about this guy! Mom and dad put us in this mess! I am tired of being in different places! This will end it all." he yelled.

"Taylor." Nick said stepping closer.

"No Nick." he cocked the gun.

The next thing that I know, I hear a gun, but I went down.

"Shit." I mumbled.  

"Woods! You okay!" I think Klasco asked. 

"Are the boys okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, Jacobs got them. We need an ambulance asap, officer down." he said into his mic.

"Aria!" Joy screamed. 

"I'm fine Joy. Just shot in the arm."

After the doctor took care of the bullet in my arm, and wrapped it up, it was inside a sling. I walked through the elevator doors, and I was attacked by a person.

"Geez Aria! You scared me half to death!" that would be my bestfriend all over me.

"Okay, careful Joy, still a little sore." I told her as we walked to my desk.

"Sorry." she then smiled.

"Good work, Woods." said Chief Yarbro.

"I didn't get the guns away from the kids. I let them shoot me." I told him furiously.

"You did all you could."

"Not good enough." I said through my teeth.

"Aria, ever since we got here, you have beenn able to save numerous of people, just one slip up is not going to kill you." said Joy.

"She's right Woods, you are my number one girl, don't let this one get to you." he said and was off. Probably to be with his wife and daughter.

"Hey Jacobs!" I yelled before he could reach the elevator. "Uhm..thanks."

"No problem, just wish that kid wouldn't have shot you."

"Couldn't stop him from doing that. I should have been able to." now I was getting angry again.

"Aria, it's not your fault. You did all you could do, and at least you were shot in the arm. I'm just glad you weren't seriously hurt." now I knew he meant that because he said my first name. Usually in the force you don't say each other's first names. But when I did get called by my first, I knew I was either in trouble or whoever was telling me something was serious.

"Uh, thanks again Jacobs." I said again as I started to walk back to Joy.

"Goodnight Aria." he smiled as the elevator doors closed.

"He is so totally into you." Joy exclaimed from behind me.

"What?"

"The way he was looking at you when he told you that it wasn't your fault."

"Oh shut up Joy." I slightly pushed her. "Lets get some Chinese."

"Okay."

We left the office hand in hand, got some Chinese food and retired back at our apartment. To say that I get to work with my best friend is amazing, but to live with her as well, is even better. 

I love working for the MPD, and saving others lives, I guess we all make mistakes and this slip up wont stop me from working on the next case.

So this is my first police story and after watching CSI, Criminal Minds, Law & Order and all those other good cop shows, I decided to write a cop story. Please let me know what you think of the first chapter.
