"I'm afraid to tell you that Ariana Sterling has taken her life."
Now, it was completely quiet. No one dared to talk or even breathe.
"W-What do you mean she's taken her life?" Sally whispered. I now realised that she had dropped her phone. Mr Steiner, our french teacher rubbed his face with his hands. It felt like eternity until he started talking again.
"Ariana Sterling was found in her room yesterday," This silence was making me nervous. "Dead." I heard how a few people gasped. "I'm sorry, are you sure you're okay Mr Steiner? I don't think Ariana would have taken her life without anyone to notice how bad her situation was." I frowned. Did Blake Dawson really just say that?
"Y-yes, yes! He's right!" Sally said and her voice was high pitched. "Maybe you misunderstood something. Ariana is my best friend! I would have noticed if she was about to commit suicide!" Sally let out a nervous laugh.
Oh, Sally, we both know that's not true.
To be honest, I wouldn't have expected her to react that way. I thought she would've just shrugged it off, like she always did.
"Oh my god. Oh my god!" Sally suddenly screamed. "She can't be dead! Right? She can't be!" She shook her head, picked her phone up and held it up into the air. "See? I'm going to call her right now. And then you'll see that she's very well alive and definitely not dead." Everyone started murmuring something to their seat-neighbours and I saw how Sally hastily dialled my number.
She put it on speaker and waited. It rang once. It rang twice. It rang six times. When it rang for the tenth time, Mr Steiner took a few steps forward to Sally, took her phone and hung up. "I'm really sorry for your loss, Mrs Hempton. I know you and Mrs Sterling were really close."
Sally started sobbing and I had never seen her cry like that before. "I was such a bitch to her! Yesterday was her birthday and I forgot! I deserve to die, not her." she cried quietly and I saw how a few girls hugged her and whispered something into her ear.
Wow. I was really shocked. I didn't know my death would hit Sally that hard. If I'd known then I-I...What would I have done then?
I honestly don't know.
"Dude, this shit's crazy," My attention was now pointed at Blake, Stefan and Nicholas' conversation. Blake seemed to be lost in his thoughts whilst Stefan and Nicholas were repeating how crazy everything was.
I've stood here, in the middle of the classroom for the whole time and nobody knew I was there. I wanted to scream "Hello! I'm here!" but I knew they couldn't hear me anyways.
I glanced at Blake who really seemed like it had hit him hard and then looked over to Sally who was still crying.
I'm so sorry.

I was really scared to go inside my house. I was always scared to enter that house since my mother died, but that was only because of Mason. Every day in school I was asking myself what he would do to me when I came home. I can't even count how often I had covered my bruises with make-up or how often I had skipped school. But now I was scared to enter because of myself. I didn't know what they had done with my body. I remember that I had closed my eyes and when I opened them I was standing in the classroom.
One part of me though wanted to see how Mason would take my death in. I guess that curiosity was what had convinced me to go in after all.
I found Mason in the living room, discussing something with a police officer. "I told you already, I wasn't home when she killed herself," he said and the police officer shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr Shell. I just have to go through every detail to understand why Mrs Sterling decided to end her life." Mason nodded understanding. "Of course. My daughter was such a happy girl, I don't know why she would do such thing,"
