You couldn't believe your eyes. You had won! You had defeated Sans!
After months and months of trying everything, from pun competitions (okay, your defeat in this area was to be expected) to all kinds of puzzles, quizzes, games and even a tennis match (you had thought his laziness would help you win - but no), you had tried everything you could think of to beat the skeleton, but nothing had worked out, and you had always ended up cleaning his things, tidying up or doing any other activity he was too lazy to indulge in. Because that was the deal: the winner could ask the loser for one thing, anything.
Not once had you won - until now!
"heh", Sans laughed, staring at your hands, yours in a fist and his showing two of his fingers - scissors. "you got me there, kid."
"I won", you stated, unbelieving. "I..."
Suddenly, you jumped at him, throwing your arms around him to catch him in a tight hug.
"I won! I actually won!", you screamed with joy. "I beat you, Sans!"
Then you realized what you were doing, how close you were and that you were basically suffocating Sans - if that was even possible - with your embrace. Apologizing sheepishly, you let go of him. But it didn't take your smile long to find its way back to your face. You had actually beat the unbeatable Sans!
"looks like you did", he mused, grinning at your joy. "now you got a wish."
Oh.
That was true, you had a wish. Anything, and he had to do it. Your smile fell a little, because you had decided on what you wanted a long time ago already. A dreadful feeling in your stomach reminded you of what was to come, and even though you had just won, the happiness left you.
No. You didn't want to feel unhappy or sad. After all, you had experienced so many wonderful moments with Sans and the others. Instead of dreading the future, you should remember the time you had spent with them. One last deep breath left you as you let some of your happiest memories run through your head again. Every moment you had spent with him, you had savoured. So it was alright. You were sure. You were ready. You were... determined.
You didn't regret anything.
There was no more time to procrastinate, so you finally moved your legs, stepped forward in the snow, until you were closer to Sans again.
"so (y/n), what's it gonna be?", he asked, he had been waiting for you to decide on a wish.
"Sans...", you started, a bit nervous, but trying to cover it up with a cheerful smile. He noticed that, of course, but chose to wait for you to continue.
"Sans, could I...", you paused shortly, your determination leaving you momentarily, before you got a grip on yourself again. "Can I use my wish right now?"
"sure thing, (y/n). wat'cha need?", he asked casually.
"Could you maybe... take me to the Star Cave? I'd like to spend some time with you there." Under normal circumstances you might have had to fight a blush, but like this... it was your last wish.
"that's your wish? you don't have to use it on that", Sans said.
"I want to", you retorted confidently.
"alright, if you're sure... now?"
You nodded and he came closer to you, reaching out so you could grab his hand. "hold on tight."
He didn't need to tell you twice, the turning that occured in your stomach everytime he used a shortcut with you was decreased if you had something - or someone - to hold on to. Sans, in every case. One hand grabbed his, the other was placed on his shoulder for additional support. It resembled a dance, and this time you had to fight the burning on your cheeks. You would've loved to dance with him, but there was no way he'd do so without you using up a wish for that - he was far too lazy.
