We decided to get my ultrasound done in California. I squeeze Zach's warm, soft hand as we walk into the pregnancy clinic. We get checked in and sit down. Zach places his hand on my stomach. "In just a few minutes, we find out whether you're a boy or a girl. And I can't wait to hold you and my babygirl close. Your mom is the best woman I will ever meet and I want you to know, you are more than just a teen pregnancy. Mommy and I love you," he says to my stomach. I smile. Zach and I are both nervous and exicted about having a baby. Finally, my name gets called and we head back into a room. I lay on the bed and they put cool gel on my stomach. And move a device around. "Well, you are 5 months along," the nurse says. "And your gender is..." The nurse's smile fades. "I'll be right back," she says. She runs out of the room and runs back with a doctor. He checks for the baby. "I'm so sorry, Ms. Callisto. I hate to say this, but your baby died," he says. He wipes the gel from my stomach. I scream and cry and plead for my baby to come back. I grab my things and head out. And the worst part is, tonight is Christmas Eve.
