Everyone groaned, apparently the baby parts were always boring so everyone left the theater, which made me question if there was a way out of here to get food. I might be dead but apparently dead people get hungry.I left the theater and followed another me that looked like she was from Egypt. I strayed farther behind her so she didn't know I was just following her. But in my defense, this place was ENORMOUS! I don't understand how you could navigate this place, but then again, she was probably here for thousands of years.
I followed her to a lobby area, she was about to sit down but then she whipped around, took my arm and pinned it behind my back. "Oh, it's the new one." She had a heavy accent and jewels all around her. She let my arm go and I dusted myself off "Um, hello? My name is Megan." Her eyes narrowed at me and scanned me up and down "Chione."
Chione was very distant and quiet, but she DID offer to give me a tour so I would stop following people. The halls were nothing new or special, but the food was god-like. I thought they would only have movie theater food, but they had hamburgers, cereal, cakes, fruits and vegetables. Even a GARDEN!
Apparently there was more to the place to make it feel more like a home, other versions of myself greeted me and were normally polite.
We got to a long bright hallway and Chione made us turn around, I let curiosity get the best of me "So whats back there?" She hissed "Nothing. Just don't go back there EVER." I asked again "Why not? Is it gonna KILL ME?" I laughed and waved my arms in the air dramatically. She didn't find in funny and she slapped me.She left me at where my new room was, and it was everything I could have ever wished for in my mortal life, a balcony leading to the town of past lives, doves danced in the sky and trees rustled in the wind. Above my bed was a projection of stars and the floor was soft.
I looked in my closet and there were so many options to choose from! The closet was bigger than my old room back home! I reached for my phone in my back pocket to tell all my friends, they would probably wonder where I was-
Oh yeah
I'm dead...
The more I thought about my death the sicker I felt, I couldn't believe it, gone. Just like that. And they don't know I'm fine. I wish I could send them some sort of sign, or just tell them!
Wait
Is that what that white hallway was?
"Don't even think about it." A thick accent popped behind me, it looked like some sort of tribal version with me, she had sun kissed skin and paintings on her face and arms "that hall is forbidden for good reason." I tilted my head "Why? It's not gonna kill me or anything," she shook her head "No, but it could very well end your life as you know it, memories of one you've loved, gone, wiped away. Only to float the mortal world aimlessly. Invisible, with no purpose."
I didn't say anything, but I let her leave the room. There was no way I could just 'forget' everyone I ever knew. It must be some ghost story to scare me and something is actually really amazing back there.
Only one way to find out.
