Ring! Ring! Ring!
I reached my arms out in an attempt to silence whatever was ruining my treasured nap in the middle of the night. It took me quite a while to go to sleep, especially after my successful trick on Alex.
Just a few hours ago, I was busy telling my two best friends in New York about what happened earlier. Samantha and Amanda were definitely supportive and demanded that I act like this on a daily basis just to mess with Alex more since he annoys me so much. It's only right that I pay him back for his teasing, right?
I groan into the block I'm holding and demand a good reason for whoever it was to break me from my beautiful dream where I was visiting Europe and looking at hotties on the street.
"Who is it? You better have a good explanation on why you decided to call at 3 in the morning!" I bark into the phone. "Do you know how important sleep is to the human bod--"
"Elizabeth! It's me, Samantha."
"And me, Amanda!" the other voice speaks quickly and energetically into the phone.
"What? Didn't I just speak to you two a few hours ago? Why can't what it is wait until the morning when normal people actually wake up?" I complain.
"Elizabeth! Stop your complaining and listen up!" Samantha demands.
"Yeah, this is really big news, Elizabeth! You won't believe what our parents brought us!"
"What?" I asked, not in a mood to try to sound happy to talk at 3 o'clock in the morning. "It better be good!"
"It is! Our parents brought us both tickets--"
"To visit you in Florida!" the other twin finishes.
I shot out of bed and positioned my phone against my shoulder with my ear so that I could tie my messy hair into a bun with a scrunchy found on my wrist at this critical time.
"Oh, my, gosh! Seriously? I can't believe your parents did that!" I whisper-shout. "When? Where do I pick you two up? What are we going to do when you arrive? Where will you stay?"
"Oh, calm down, Elizabeth! We've got it all under control. We're coming down to protect you from the nasty Alex and to interview all these hotties at your new school so that you can safely choose the best of the best," Amanda states calmly.
I laugh into the phone. As my two best friends, they really are something. Apparently, they always need approval before I date someone... Not that I've dated that many boys in my life before. The only other boy that I dated was someone from middle school when puppy love was all the rage at school. Other than that, I'm as clean as a fresh slate.
"It's late and our parents are knocking at our doors to quiet down, so we'll text you the details about the plane information tomorrow morning."
"Yeah, first thing tomorrow morning, okay?" Amanda says into the phone.
"Yeah, sure," I say, already falling into dreamland without saying good-bye.

I woke up the next morning to multiple messages on my phone from Samantha and Amanda. I wrote down all the flight details and pinned it onto the board on the wall above my head. Honestly, I was hoping that they would at least be able to visit once or twice during my stay here in Florida. Now, I finally get the chance to unite all my new and old friends together!
I hurriedly get ready by running a brush through my hair with my left hand as I brush my teeth in my right hand. I throw on a simple light wash blue jeans with a graphic tee and tuck in the bottom of the shirt into my pants. Grabbing a slice of toast downstairs, I sit down next to Chris and affectionately ruffle his hair before he playfully pushes me away from messing up his hair even more than it already was.
"Stop that, Elizabeth!" squeals Chris in a frenzy between laughing.
"Okay, fine. Just because you're too cute, I can't stop playing with you, Chris. You're going to catch so many hearts when you grow up in a couple years," I say, straightening up when I see Mary and Thomas come around the kitchen corner and towards the dining table.
"Good morning, Elizabeth! How have you been adjusting to our home so far?" asked Thomas.
"I think it's been quite natural... Just like a second home to me."
"That's great!" Mary happily exclaims as she bobs her head up and down in agreement. "I'm so glad my mess of a home hasn't ruined your summer or anything so far."
"No, no! It's definitely cleaner than my home."
Thomas laughs before interjecting, "I don't think that would be possible, Elizabeth. Huge thanks to your plan! Now, we're finally seeing the tile on our floors for once in a decade!"
I laugh along before another chime rings from my back pocket.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this, but my two best friends from New York have tickets to visit me for a few days. Do you think it's possible for them to stay with us? If there's no room, I understand. I can squeeze them into my room and they can sleep with--" I say hurriedly before I'm quickly cut off by Mrs. White.
"No worries, dear! Your friends are friends of ours as well! We can have your friends sleep in Chris's room since Chris always likes to sleep with us at night anyways!"
"Thank you so much!" I exclaim. "This is going to be the best week ever!"

A few days later, I'm standing at the airport and scanning my surroundings to look for two familiar faces in the crowd of people rushing around. I feel a tap on my shoulder before I'm jumped by bones and muscles. Trying to steady myself and to not make an embarrassment of myself by falling to the floor, I turn and look at them.
"Sam! Amanda! I can't believe you guys are finally here!" I squeal, jumping up and down in joy.
"We can't either! There's so much we can do! We can visit Disney World! We can ride all the roller-coasters and eat all the turkey legs we want!" Amanda exclaims.
"But best of all, we can prevent Alex from bothering you for a week. Even if it's only a few days, we have enough time to do more harm than good if he so much as lays a single finger on you," Samantha warns. "Don't worry. We've got your back, Elizabeth!"
The drive back to Mr. and Mrs. White's home felt quick with how much the twins took turns telling stories. I tell Mary and Thomas to head in first so save them from more yapping between the twins, but not before they shout for Michael and Jason to come and help us move their luggage up to their temporary rooms.
"Hey, I'm Michael," he offers as he lifts the luggage from the car and push them towards the front door. "What's your name?"
Samantha smiles shyly before offering her own name.
"She has a soft spot for artists," Amanda points out, winking towards me before watch the other White brother get more luggage from the car. "Now, this cutie is more of my taste."
"Guys, don't be like that. You're only here for a few days and I don't want you two to stir up trouble before you both leave for New York City again," I warn them.
"Yeah, sure thing, Elizabeth!" they both shout as they walk away from me. "We'll meet up in a couple minutes after we settle in and change into something more suitable for this hot weather."
