(There is a lot to take in with this chapter. Be warned.)
~Drew's POV~
“Woah.” Mahogany gasped, walking onto the jet.
The in-flight coordinator, Jim, is his name gave us the run down of the few hour flight. Told us about the rules of the aircraft, safety procedures. I met the pilot, one who'd I be getting to know very well. Technically, he's my pilot.
How can I even say that? This is insane. The jet, is all sorts of platinum and white. Recliner's lining each sides, and couches. There is a counter, filled with a mini fridge that is stacked full of drinks and snacks. I looked up, as we were getting ready to lift off. I noticed, in gold letters it said; Drew Grier. It has my name on it, oh my.
“This is so fucking cool.” The red head gushed.
“I know, oh my god.”
We settle into our seats, as she tells me about Pittsburgh her home town. I've always wanted to visit, and now I get too. She mentions she'll take me to her favorite places. Restaurants, shopping, tourist things. It's great to be able to get away for awhile.
I think back to the hotel earlier, saying good bye to everyone. Although, there was only a handful of people I was leaving. One of them I'm seeing in nine days. I'm nervous about Omaha, being completely alone with Jack at some point.
I'm terrified, what if outside of the Magcon setting he doesn't like me anymore? Gosh, I am such a typical girl. It's not Jack who is doubting my feeling for him, it's the other way around now.
“Almost there!” Mahogany beamed.
She's excited to go home, see her family. She tells me of her Grandfather, he's one of the biggest influences in her life. But one thing is on her mind, how is she going to tell them about the other person she is now carrying.
'
Pittsburgh, cold but beautiful. Snow dotted the streets, along with a ton of people. I've not been to many big cities like this in my life. It was a first. There were hills, and deep inclines every turn. The car would go up one, and my stomach would drop for a moment.
“Here's home.” Mahogany said, stepping out of the car. The biggest smile I have ever seen upon her face.
When we walked inside, her Father, Manny, welcomed us with welcoming arms. He was an older man, and seemed really honest and nice. But her Step-Mother on the other hand, was everything she described as. Uptight, crude, homophobic, racist you name it, this woman was it. Even her name bit my tongue, Cecil. She was blonde, and all kinds of fake.
Mahogany explained to me, that her real Mom, passed away in a car accident years ago. She wasn't sad, she was content when she told me. “I have to hold on to the memories, ya know? It's what keeps her alive in my heart.” She had said that day. I remember I gave her a hug, the biggest one I could.
If the woman in front of me, said one more thing about someone's skin color, or what they looked like. I felt as though I was going to burst. I don't know what got me through lunch. Maybe because I knew Mahogany had to deal with her, and the hatred she has.
