Lydia never called, Marcel waited, his phone next to him while doing homework, eating dinner. Yet she never called.

His Mum gave him a small smile, whether it was pity, or whether it was just a nice gesture.

He cursed himself for getting his hopes up. Rolling his eyes when Harry offered him a ride again. Just leaving the house with a scoff and heading to the bus.

She wasn't on the bus either that morning. Neither was Luke. So he was sat by himself trying to avoid any stares that may be thrown at him.

Especially when he heard the normal voice of Zayn Malik. Edwards partner in crime. He rarely got the bus, but still acted like he owned it. Using his bag to hit Marcel up the side of the head. Knocking his glasses off his face, but he caught them just in time.

Their mother never approved of Zayn, he was in and out of juvy, constantly getting into trouble in both school and the law. Yet that didn't stop Edward from being his best friend.

The glare that Marcel and Zayn threw at eachother was harsh, both holding very deep hatred for the other.

From the age of 12, when Edwards and Marcel's relationship began to fade, Zayn has made Marcels life a living hell.

Not this year.

Arriving at the school Marcel dragged himself and his bag of the bus, ignoring the calls of Zayn and his friends. There at her locker stood Lydia.

She had her headphones dangling from her hands as she shoved books into her locker. Marcel was surprised to see her stood alone and not swarmed by a bunch of guys.

Then she looked up. Her eyes locked with Marcels, he saw a glimpse of a smile form on her lips, but it faltered when the bell rang.

She took off. Despite marcel trying to catch up with her, he remained unlucky. He rerouted his direction and headed to science. Sat next to his seat was Harry. Releasing a scoff Marcel day next to him.

"Why don't you sit with Niall?" Asked the youngest, Harry shrugged.

"Why did you get the bus this morning?" Harry answered with a question.

"You didn't answer my-"

"Lydia thought you were avoiding her." Harry cut him off, Marcel looked up and glared.

"How'd-"

Harry once again cut him off, and it was really starting to annoy Marcel. "Ed gave her a lift this morning." And that was it.

"Seriously?" Marcel whispered harshly. "Look I get it, yous aren't used to me hanging out with a pretty girl but please. Just once." Marcel looked at the teacher to see if he was looking, before turning back to Harry. "Let me have a chance."

The look that fell onto Harry's face would've made Marcel feel bad. If he hadn't already had enough of his brothers attitude, and it was only day two of school.

"Hey Marcel, I don't see Lydia like that." Harry chuckled. "Yeah she's-" Harry paused, as if he was forcing the word out. "Pretty. But I don't want to go out with her." Marcel rose an eyebrow.

"Promise?" Harry nodded. And that's how Marcel felt bad.

Everyone knew that the relationship between the Styles Triplets wasn't as close as you'd expect a relationship between three people who were identical to be.

Different groups of friends, never seen together outside school. Different heights of popularity.

Of course it confused everyone, heck it even confused Harry and Marcel. It was unclear which triplet started the fall out. It was clear that no one wanted to reignite it.

So the fact that Harry and Marcel were sitting together had the attention of all the students around them. The teacher even called in one of the passing teachers. Not-so-subtly talking about the two of them.

When the bell rang, it was weird how the class is ended without on off them moving away, holding a scowl. Except they walked out talking, before their paths separated and it seemed like the class was forgotten.

Next was math, and he was sat next to the girl that had been avoiding him, or Lydia thought she was the one being avoided.

"Marcie!" Ashton cheered as Marcel entered the room, making a few people chuckle. "Sorry." The curly headed boy mumbled.

Marcel just smiled and sat down, next to the girl herself. "Hey." She mumbled. Not looking up as she unwrapped her chewing gum.

"You didn't get the bus this morning."

"Yeah I thought you would be with your brothers." She looked up at him, "Look if you don't want to hang around with me. I get it." She let out a scoff before continuing. "I mean who wants to hang around with the new girl?" Marcel looked at her with disbelief.

"I do want to hang out with you." He smiled. "I just thought-" He took a gulp when she met his gaze, forgetting just how pretty her eyes were, and god they were pretty. "That you'd gotten a taste of how much better my brothers are that you..."

"No Marcel, I'm glad I sat with you on the bus yesterday. I think we can be good friends." She smiled. Marcel nodded. Smiling that they had sorted everything out.

"Also your number? It had me blocked?" Lydia countered. Stating that she did indeed call, but it didn't go through, so the pair pulled out their phones to investigate.

"That's Edward's number." Marcel said through a clenched jaw.

"Oh. Well let's change it to yours." She smiled, typing in the boys actual number as Marcel thought of all the ways he would kill his two brothers.
