Hello there Mr. Socially Awkward (Niam)

Chapter 1

I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror.

It’s gonna be a new day in a new school for me. I hate meeting new people. Scratch that, I hate people.

I combed my hair a little bit more, maybe I could put a good impression on everybody today and maybe they would talk to me and I would be less anti-social.

I laughed. Yeah right. I can count the friends I made in my whole life with one hand.

There’s Martin, he was my friend when I was ten years old but he moved away when we were 13 and I haven’t heard from him ever since. There’s Andy and Ronnie, they were from my old school. No one really liked us, that’s why we’re friends. I had to transfer though and it was sad leaving them. 

And there’s Dani, the only girl I ever properly talked to and the only reason why I still haven’t ran away from this place.

We were friends and neighbors ever since I can remember but we kind of parted ways when we were 8, although we still talk to each other and hang out under the tree behind her house all the time.

And what’s cool is the fact that she also happens to study in the new school I was going to transfer to. I loved her as a best friend with all my heart.

I heard my mother shout “Liam! Danielle’s here! Hurry up and eat your breakfast!”

I sighed one last time and went downstairs to eat my breakfast. As I was going down the stairs I smelled bacon and heard the voice of Dani.

I finally barged in the kitchen where Danielle looked at me and smiled “Liam! I haven’t seen you in a month! You’ve grown so much and you’re much more attractive now huh?” I blushed and stuck my tongue out.

My mom laughed “Oh Dani, you haven’t changed one bit. Here, why don’t you take some breakfast too” Danielle smiled “if you don’t mind Mrs. Payne”

I sat down on the table across her and we both started eating. I ate as much as I could and gulped down a bit of orange juice.

After Dani and I were both finished she nudged me “let’s go! Don’t wanna be late do we?” I sighed and grabbed my bag.

I said goodbye to my mom and we both started walking off to school.

I muttered “Dani, I’m nervous” Danielle smiled and put her arms around me “Don’t be, I’m here” I smiled and nodded.

After 10 minutes, we finally reached the school. It was nothing special, just another normal school.

Dani grabbed my hand and dragged me inside.

As we got in, a lot of people looked at me and started murmuring. I sighed, I bet they were judging me already and they barely even know me yet.

Danielle smiled “what’s your locker number?” I got a piece of paper in my bag and showed it to her.

She smiled “locker 315, that’s pretty near mine, let’s go” we went upstairs until the third floor and as we finally reached locker 315, I saw a couple making out beside it.

I was surprised as I realized they were both boys.

One had a mop of curly hair and the other one had caramel-colored hair swept in one side.  

I had nothing against gay people, in fact, I was gay. I confirmed it myself when Andy, Ronnie and I had a little experiment.  But I was really surprised on how they can do it so freely in front of the hallway.

I heard a voice say “got a problem new guy?” I turned around and faced a tan-skinned boy with raven hair styles in a quiff.

I awkwardly shook my head and proceeded to open my locker. “You disgusted boy?” I turned around to face the boy again and shook my head.

Danielle was frozen on her spot, her eyes were telling me not to mess with this boy. I gulped.

“Do you even talk?” I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. “Just leave him alone babe” I heard another voice.

Another boy appeared, he had pale skin, blond hair and amazing blue eyes that you could get lost in. I heard the quiffed boy say “sorry babe. I was just curious” but I didn’t hear him properly. My eyes were focused on the blond boy who I think is irish.

The blond boy gave me a small smile which I returned. He looked back at the quiffed boy and said "Let's go, don't wanna be late. You too Louis and Harry"

The couple beside me finally pulled away from each other and nodded. They gave each other one last kiss then set off along with the blond boy and the quiffed one.

Danielle ran to me "You okay Li?" I nodded "who were they?" Danielle said "the couple were Harry and Louis, the guy who you really don't want to mess with is Zayn, and the blond one is his boyfriend, Niall"

I smiled sadly, so they're together?

Danielle saw the look in my eye "Ohmygod, please be joking Liam" I looked at him "what?" Dani said "don't tell me you're falling for Niall Horan!? You're crazy!"

I sighed "I know Dani. Whatever, as if I have a chance. Let's just get to class okay" Dani nodded slowly.

Although I couldn't help think of him. Even though the smile he gave was just small. It was beautiful.

It was love at first sight.
