"What the fuck do u want Travis?" Sal tried to stay calm, maybe he could somehow dart around his bully and escape. Maybe Travis was just gonna spew some nasty comments at him. He could handle that. Sal knew how to keep a straight face and not snap at words. After all. They were just words.
"I want you to get on your knees and beg me not to do what I'm about to do"
Sally stood there. He couldn't fight Travis but he certainly wasn't going to get on his knees for a pile of shit with legs. But at the same time Travis' tone scared him.
"Too late" Travis snarled and seconds later Sal was on the floor after having received a kick to his stomach.
All Sally could feel was pain, Travis was really beating the shit outta him. All the while Sal had his hands over his face to protect his mask, god help him if it broke. With one last kick to the head Travis walked out and slammed the door behind him.
Sal lay there. He was sore. Very sore. He then suddenly moved to roll down his sleeves which were still up from when he was washing his hands.
"Shit shit shit shit shit" he thought. Looking down at the healing cuts spread out across his wrists. Some were newer than others and although none were really 'fresh' they were still visible.
"What if Travis had seen them?"
The door opened again and Sally immediately heard a familiar voice of concern.
"Oh my fuck Sal!"
It was Larry, that gorgeous fucker here to save him. Thank god.
"Dude are you alright?!"
"Yeah yeah I'm fine, don't worry about it"
"Who did this?!"
It was silent as the realisation hit Larry.
"That bastard"
"Larry it's fine, just some bruises"
The bell rung. Neither of the boys were willing to face the rest of the school day.
"Wanna ditch?" Sally suggested.
"You know it"
Less than 30 minutes later and they were in the treehouse. Sal flopped down on a bean bag, wincing at the pain from his bruised back.
"Hey you should put some ice on your back, you don't want it to swell up too much" Larry was looking at him with a concerned expression.
"Hold still I'll go get some"
Sally sat there thinking about his best friend. He was so caring. Sal loved that about him. The trapdoor opened again minutes later.
"I'll put it on your back for you if you want"
Sally blushed under his mask at this.
"Sure" he said as he carefully pulled his jumper over his head, making sure not to let his wrists be visible. And then suddenly he felt the disturbing presence of cold wet ice on his back. He screamed.
Larry burst out laughing and continued to lightly press the ice on the bruises.
"Hey can you check under the bean bag for vodka? I think I hid some there last week." Larry said.
Sal searched and found a bottle.
"HELL YEAH" he shouted with glee. He immediately opened the bottle and took a swig."Hey leave some for the medic!" Larry joked.
Sal laughed and handed the bottle back. He liked this. Hanging out with his best friend, the casual chat, the alcohol of course. It was his favourite thing to do. He looked back at his best friend in the middle of taking a drink when he noticed his eyes were worriedly focused on something. That something was Sally's wrists. He had forgotten to keep them covered.
