"Good morning, birthday girls!" Cristiano walked into the pink room of the twins. The two little ladies were already wide awake as always at the important days such as their birthday.
"Good morning, daddy!" They bounced on the bed excited, Mia reaching her hand out for the piece of paper he held in his hand.
"Can I read it? Can I read it?" She asked barely able to contain herself and he nodded, handing her the envelope. "Are you ready?" She asked with the most serious face as she hopped down and crossed her legs.
"I'm ready, I'm ready!" Maya bounced some more on the bed, as always being the more hyped one. The two girls were similar and yet so different; Mia with her wiseness, Maya with her unthoughtfulness, one of them usually quiet and observant, the other loud and barely noticing the world around herself and yet in their core they were so alike, smart and quirky and charming to the bone in their very own ways.
"You have to stop then." Cristiano laughed softly and grabbed her by the waist, pulled her to his lap as he laid over the bed and leant back against the headboard, crossing his legs at the ankle.
"I'm stopped," she stated and put her hands over her mouth to show just how finished she was.
"You can start, Mia," he said with a small nod.
"My dearest Ladybugs..."
"That's us!" Maya commented beaming.
"Yes, baby, that's you." Cristiano nodded.
"...and Seven."
"That's you, daddy!" Maya cut her sister off again, pointing at him.
"Yes, that's me. Now let your sister read what special present mummy has for you girls." He patted a kiss on her cheek and winked at Mia to go on.
"My dearest Ladybugs and Seven," Mia started again, giving a pointed look to her sister. "On this special day of your 7th birthday I invite you to a treasure hunting event. This is going to be an adventure of a lifetime, one you will never forget. You will see wonders and magic, hear what not many's had the luck to hear, you will travel from the bottom of the ocean to the Milky Way." Cristiano closed his eyes and listened to his daughter reading the words of his wife. He could practically see Sophie poking her tongue out in concentration, her chocolate brown hair fanning over her shoulders, pieces of plasticine and whatnot stuck in her unruly locks. His wife and her adventures, a smile spread over his face, he loved those. "First thing first though, no explorer can start out with an empty belly and because of that I'll share my secret waffle recipe."
"Esperanza!" Cristiano called for the girls' nanny.
"Ahm, daddy..." Mia cleared her throat. "It says, Seven, you have to do it, not the nanny, not the chef but you. Do NOT cheat! I will know!"
"What a witch," he mumbled for the greatest amusement of the twins.
"There are rules that shall not be broken. This is strictly a PJ breakfast, those in daytime clothing shall be banned."
"Show me that." Cristiano grumbled but his daughter pulled her hand back.
"There's more." She narrowed her eyes, her lips pushing out in a pout. "Pinky promise must be made the secret recipe remains well guarded and no evil can get their hands on it. I trust you Ladybugs and you, Seven."
"You can't even cook." Maya giggled, poking her father in the side.
"And your mother loves my struggles." He growled, rubbing his face.
"Your first clue will be found in the box of glitter and crown only when you finished eating the key of smart. Love you to nano bits, mum." Mia finished and looked up at Cristiano with a raised eyebrow. "You are not in PJ," she stated, her deep brown eyes narrowed at him for wearing his training suit.
