day 10

-

i woke up feeling fresh.

i hadn't felt like that in ages and i owed it all to remus lupin.

it was sunday and today i had been invited to the beach by remus, lily and the rest of their friends.

after i had gotten ready, i headed down to the library where i spent the day organising the books with janet, until remus came at 7pm to take me to the beach.

we decided to take the train there.

"what if they don't like me?"

"of course they'll like you" remus laughed, "who wouldn't?"

i could feel my cheeks turning the exact same shade of pink that his always does, and i nervously bit my lip again, just like i did when we first made eye contact.

he smirked and shifted his gaze towards the window.

we were finally at the beach.

"there they are" said remus, pointing to a group of four people in the distance.

"alright, moony?" said a boy with messy black hair and crooked glasses.

"prongs" said remus, nodding at the boy.

"evelyn, this is james" he said, pointing at the boy who had just spoken.

"this is sirius" he said, pointing at quite a good looking guy with shoulder length black hair.

"this is peter" he told me, pointing towards a short and nervous looking boy with sandy coloured hair.

"and you already know lily" he said, gesturing to her.

"so this is your girl is it rey?" asked the boy called sirius, with a smirk on his face.

"n-no" replied remus, "i never said-"

but james and sirius were very loud and they clearly loved to wind people up.

lily had brought sparklers with her, and we all had spent ages running around the beach trying to make pretty patterns and spell each other's names out with them.

an hour later, remus pulled me aside.

"i.. i need to tell you something" he said.

i waited for him to continue.

"i.. i um-"

"i love you, remus" i said.

i wasn't even surprised by my confidence anymore. sometimes you just meet someone and they make you a better person. and when you find that someone, you have to make sure that you tell them you love them before it's too late.

"i love you too, evelyn" he whispered.

he pressed his lips against mine and i tangled my fingers into his soft locks before pulling away.

i kissed both of his scars and gave him one of those warm and genuine smiles that he always gives me.

i'm thankful that janet's little library stays open at dusk.

i'm thankful that i have a new group of friends.

i'm thankful that i have remus.

because i'm better now.
i'm better with him.
