Acquaintance

"My dear Kim, I made a deal and it is a deal I will keep." Em replied.
Flashback.
Em had just come back from a party. She arrived very drunk. Her stepbrother, Terry, dragged her home. Her parents were already furious.
The next day, she was summoned to her parents' office. She saw her best friend Kim and her parents also seated. When everyone was settled, Em's stepmother spoke up.
"You both, we're very dissatisfied with your behavior. It is now very intolerable. So in order to have access to your inheritance, you have to go through a punishment." After this, Kim's mom continued.
" You two will continue your remaining years of college in McGill university. So tomorrow, we're withdrawing you from Columbia university."
"If you survive, you continue to hold your right to your inheritance." Kim's dad continued.
"Okay we accept. On one condition. No bodyguards." This time it was Em.
"Accepted. So it's a deal."
And the deal was sealed much to Kimberly's dismay.
Flashback over.

She still remembers that day like it was yesterday but in fact it was almost two years ago. At first things were difficult but it became better. In
fact it's quite nice without bodyguards on your tail and no unreasonably high expectations from people. She went into her bedroom, took a shower,wore a sleep T and then jumped into bed.
She woke up the next day with a slight headache but with an advil, everything was okay.

She curled up her Auburn hair and left it to cascade down her shoulder. She is joining Kim's car since her car broke down. Downstairs, Kim prepared pancakes. After they were done eating, they walked off to Kimberly's Toyota Corolla. They had about 4 months till college was over. During a certain break which will be given by the school, Em was supposed to return home. She'd be going home in two weeks. Back to luxury. Don't get her wrong, she likes the normal life but come on who doesn't like luxury?
After her first lecture, as she was going to grab a bite, she bumped into someone and had to fight the urge to curse at the person.
"Watch where you're going woman!" The familiar gruff male voice came out. She hated that she had to cross paths with him again. "I should have known it would be you. You middle class ladies always cling on to first class men. Are you stalking me?" He asked with a scowl.
"Why the hell would I stalk you? In case your pea sized brain has not realized it yet, I school here. In fact, for the past year and a three forth, I've been here. Now excuse me!." She pushed past him.
That encounter spoiled her day. When her lecture was over, she walked briskly to the parking lot to meet Kimberly. When she got there, she heard Kimberly cursing badly.
"What happened?" Em asked worriedly.
"The stupid second hand car has broken down." With this, she dialed her mom's number.
   "Mom, my car has also broken down well if you consider that thing a car ."
She removed her phone from her ear and put it on loudspeaker.
"Dana, how's everything.? Kim's mom acknowledged Emberly ignoring her raging daughter.
" Everything is cool aunt." Em replied earning a full glare from Kim.
"Mom, everything is all but cool. I miss Columbia university and I cannot take this plain life anymore. I'm tired of pretending to be middle class when-"
"When we're actually low class." Em quickly cut the call. She motioned to the three boys who came to a stop behind them. Nervously, Kim asked.
"Hey guys what are you doing here?"
  "They school here bimbo" Em replied the question.
  "Did you just say you were low class girls?" Nick asked.
"Yep." That was Em's short reply.
"Don't know why I'm not surprised" cue Jason's sarcastic comment. Em rolled her eyes and tried calling a cab.
"How about we give you a ride home?" Eric offered.
"No thanks." Em and Kim said in unison.
" Guys, I have to pick up my girlfriend. Catch you later." Nick said putting his phone into his back pocket.
"If we are going with them, I'm going with Eric. I can't handle Mr. Grumpy's testosterone level." This comment from Kim earned a glare and a snicker from Jason and Eric respectively.
" Kim I feel like walking home. I have to meet up with someone" Em excused herself and walked away but not before signalling Kim that she needed some time alone.
