Max's face lit up with a smile, "Really? I mean, um that's great! We will leave on saturday if you want." I gasped in shock, today was Thursday that meant I had one day, "Is that ok with you?" Max asked, "No, no, that's fine, it's just, what will I tell my parents?" I replied, "Hmmm well, I guess we could pretend you got kidnapped." Max suggested, "Or that you ran away." a new voice added in from behind Max, "from what I've heard about you, your not that close to your parents, so would they be suprised?" the voice asked. A boy stepped around Max and looked up at me. He looked my age and he was amazing. His eyes were a deep deep gold, if you just glanced at him, his eyes would look black, but when light hit his face, they shimmered with life. His hair was as long as Max's, only the exact opposite in color. It was a deep brown. His skin was tan, and his face was flawless, "Evelyn, this is Gabriel. Gabriel, this is Evelyn." Max said, breaking the trance Gabriel has just put me in. He stuck out his hand and said, "It's nice to meet you Evelyn." I took his hand and smiled, I didn't know what to say right now, so I stayed silent.
"It's nice to meet you too, Gabriel." I finally stammered.
"I would like for you to accompany Evelyn to school tomorrow, can you do that?" Max asked Gabriel.
"Certainly, but I'm going to look different." he replied, "that is expected of you." Max pointed out. Gabriel shrugged and released my hand from his, "We'll just say that I'm shadowing you for the day." Gabriel said, turning to me, "Alright, but how will I know who you are?" I asked, he smiled a perfect smile, "You will be about to pick me out of a crowd, don't you worry." he replied and I laughed nervously. With that he turned and left, as he walked out of the warehouse he turned to wave, I waved back, and then he was gone.
After I had gotten home, I had thrown most of my clothes into a bag and stuffed that bag under my bed. I had gotten home before my parents, so I had just thrown away the note I left. I wondered if Gabriel really looked like that, or if he just shifted to look like that for the day. I also wondered what he would look like tomorrow. I hoped it wouldn't be anything too different. I lie awake that night wondering what this new opportunity would bring.
