- This is my first ever written story that I share, ive done mini ones in the past on other ships I liked on the lowkey but never went into full detail or ever went deep into a storyline because I honestly suck at being original 😂. But I hope this is enjoyed by someone because I'll feel accomplished if at least 1 person takes the time to read mine.

- Lets me real, I dont own the show or its characters. But I may add some fictional characters along the the way for plot purposes . 👀

ENJOY!

Clay had enough stuff going on for one day. He took a shower and went to his room and got ready for bed. "What a day", he thought to himself as he pulled the sheets back and climbed in. He had finished listening to all the tapes and passed then along to Mr Porter, who was the subject Tape 13. Clay felt uneasy knowing he was done with the tapes, almost as if something was missing, and it wasn't allowing him to fall asleep. He tried for hours to sleep but he couldn't. So he got up and opened his window, climbed out, and sat on the roof looking at the clear night sky above him, just thinking about Hannah and how much he missed her. Its been about a month since she committed suicide and he missed her very deeply. He couldn't help but regret all the chances he got and chickened out of telling Hannah how he really felt. He looked up and saw a shooting star, he thought "though cliché, why not." "I wish I could go back to where it all started and do it over again just to have you again", he said with his eyes closed and he looked back up to the star fade away as he finished. He yawned and decided to go back inside to his room and try to sleep again, it was 2 AM. Clay then climbed back inside, reached over his bed and turned off his lamp and closed his eyes and did his best to try and fall asleep. As soon as he was dozing off he felt something weird happen, but ignored it and was able to fall asleep.

Clay woke up, he looked to his night stand to grab his phone and looked at the time. 7:30 it read, he had to get up to get ready for school. What he didn't notice was he missed a small detail that would later surprise him. He got his clothes ready for the day and went downstairs, surprised his mom didnt call him for a family breakfast. When he got down he saw his mom eating some eggs and toast. "Hi Honey, did you sleep well?" She asked Clay. "Not well I guess, just had a lot on my mind and it took a while to doze off." She chuckled and replied as she took a sip of cold coffee, "It must be the fact that today's your first day at that new job of yours." Clay was confused, he didn't apply for any jobs since Hannah died. "Wait, what new job?" Lainie looked at him with a surprising face like if he'd forgotten, "You applied for the job opening at the Crestmont theatre remember?" Clay was still not certain, he felt he was just getting pranked on but played it off, "Um, yea." He said almost nervous, "I'll just uh, head on over to Tony's." Clay was definitely confused about what was going on. "Alright hun, just be careful and don't forget your Helmet." Clay thanked her, grabbed his Helmet and walked out to the garage to get his bike and went out to ride to Tony's on the other side of town. He decided to know whats up, and how much time He'd have until school, it was 8:00, Clay  was close to being late, but then I noticed something he didnt in the morning, "August 17, 2016". "What", he wondered? He went to the settings and made sure the date setting were correct, all while looking up making sure he was going the right way and not hitting anything. It was still saying August 17, 2016. "How did it go back over a year in time?" He was very confused as he arrived at Tony's and parked his bike by the mail box. "Maybe Tony will know." Just as He was about to knock, Tony was walking out with a almost as confused as Clay face. "Clay, tell me you had the same thing happen to you?" Clay was confused but found a way to say his answer, "the fact that we woke up like a year and 3 months earlier?" Tony shook his head in a surprising way, "How did this happen, and why?" Clay thought back to the night before and his wish when he say the shooting star. "I wished that I could have a second chance at everything last night when I saw the shooting star while I was having trouble sleeping!" Tony was shocked at this, "Really? This all is happening bc of a shooting star wish? You must be really lucky then." Clay smiled at it at first before turning serious. "Wait, if its August 17, of 2016, that means Hannah is alive! I will meet her for the first time tonight at the Crestmont for work!" Tony realized I was getting ahead of myself, "Woah, woah, easy there Jensen. We both know this is a big opportunity to rewrite what we both know happens. Now, I believe its just us that woke up like this. Now, with that being said, we need to acknowledge that we cant completely change the events that happened because it can have devastating causes." Clay frowned, "But we can't let Hannah suffer through that, not again at least!" Tony agreed, "I know, listen. I said we shouldn't completely change it, but that doesn't mean some other things could've gone slightly different. All you need to do, is try and relive most of the things that happened, and change the parts you feel will help most." Clay thought about it and realized Tony was right, he can't just change everything, or else it could have very major consequences. Its what he's always seen the time traveling movies say and show. For a moment Clay was glad he was gonna see Hannah again, but is going to have to reach the point that it did when she was still originally around. There's no other chances at fixing this, Clay is going to be getting a second chance.
Clay didn't have the greatest memory in the world, that could help with the awkwardness he had in some instances, he also doesn't remember exactly everything he said. He looked at his phone and it was 6 PM, he went downstairs from his house and told his mom he was leaving to work. He got his bike and rode into the main boulevard of town, and parked outside the theater with "Crestmont" spelled vertically. He remembers the manager of the place, Mr. Fisher, so Clay walked into the theater and noticed Mr. Fisher, Clay was about to say, "Hello Mr. Fisher", but remembered he didn't meet Mr. Fisher before that, so it wouldn't have made sense to know his name. Clay walked awkwardly slow until he reached the main counter and Mr. Fisher turned around and said, "Are you the new guy?" Clay wasnt too sure what to say, "Um, yes I am. Clay Jensen." "Mr. Fisher, thank you for coming early on your first day, very early." He felt weird and started apologizing to which Mr. Fisher said it was alright. "So, is anyone going to be training me my first days here?" He looked at and picked up the clipboard to his left on the counter and said, "Yes actually, let's see here, perfect. New chick, Hannah Baker is going to train you, I actually have to leave right now, just wait here until she shows up alright?" Clay nods in agreement, "Yea sure, thanks Mr. Fisher." Clay sat on a nearby chair and started to run Scenarios through his head on what to say differently and when should it be. He was growing nervous by the minute and didn't know what to do. He noticed his phone beeped, it said 7 PM, his first shift was about to start and Hannah was supposed to start training him. If there was anything Clay remembers, it was that Hannah was a little late when she showed up, so he knows he's still gotta wait a few more minutes at the very least. Thats when he heard the front doors open, he didn't bother to look up because he expected it to be Hannah, and he didn't exactly want to stare at her as the first impression, mostly due to the fact that it was going to be weird seeing her in flesh, after he knows what happened. But Clay heard her call him, "Hey, new dude, get over here, you dont get paid to sit around." She said smiling as he looked up and saw her standing by the counter in her white button shirt with red vest as the uniform. Clay stood up and slowly walked over, unsure of what to say or think, he didn't want to mess up, but it was still unbelievable that this was really happening before him. She asked him, "Got a name?" He awkwardly shook off his thoughts and replied, "Yea its uh, Jensen, Clay Jensen." She smiled, "Alright, Jensen, Clay Jensen, welcome to your first day at the Crestmont, names' Hannah Baker, Im your trainer on how to manage to do your job here and this fine establishment, and while you're under my supervision, you have to wear this." She finished saying as she slapped Clay with a paper that reads "TRAINEE". He chuckled and asked, "Is this really necessary Hannah?" She had laugh, "of course, its extremely necessary." He gave in and started going through the proceeders he had that night. She was holding a popcorn cup in her hand applying the butter to it with a small container with a tube releasing the butter. "Like so." she said turning around to Clay to show him how it worked. "Now, if they ask you if its real butter what do you say?" He remembers the subtle difference of what he said and what he was about to say as he smiled, "It's a butter based product." She smiled and says, "points for the smiling to sell the big lie." He chuckled. "Oh and little trade secret, if they're cute, only put butter on the top so they'd have to come back out for more during the movie." He remembers what to say, "Is it to chat em up?" She let a small laugh escape, "Yes, you know all this stuff so what's the point of me training you." Clay laughed as well, "Chat's not really my thing though." She paused putting napkins in the napkin box, and looked at him, "I like it. I think we're gonna get along, as long as you remember I started working here 3 weeks before you so I have seniority, which is why I'm training you. Which is insane if you think about it because I literally just moved here 2 months ago and have no idea what I'm doing." Clay replied to her comment, "I think its going well." She looked back at Clay and gave him a straight smile as she went to organize the candy. "Do you like it? here?" He knew what she meant but wanted to keep the original memory real. "The Crestmont? I find the various smells fascinating." She looked up as he expected, "No this town." Clay knew exactly what to say next, "I dont have anything to compare it to, I've lived here all my life. Its like asking Han Solo 'How's space' ". She smiled and looked at him slightly strange and Clay already know what she was going to say, "Wow. You're an actual nerd aren't you?" Clay chuckled hearing those words again. "I admire that, theres courage in being a nerd." Clay then shook if off as they then continued to have their shift as she taught him how all works, towards the end of the shift it was nearing 11 PM. He turned to her as she got ready to leave, "Hey, you'll be going to Liberty next hear right?" She looked back at him, "Yea I am, why?" Clay awkwardly shrugged, "I go there too, so I guess we'll see each other there." She smiled and said, "I guess so." Clay gathered his stuff and was about to go through the front doors and he turned and said bye and she did as well. For the rest of the night Clay was just thinking of what happened and what could happen differently as a result of that.
