"So what are you going to do?" I finally managed to say during the intense staring match with Phil. "Kill me? Just leave me here for dead? You were like a father to me man. I can't believe you're about to do this."

Blood was already trickling down my forehead due to the shove against the hard wall but the pain was immune. Out of all people, I never thought it would be Phil. I wasn't lying, he was like a father to me. I met him around the same time I was introduced to Karin. He taught Dylan and I the game, and pretty much everything else that came with being a man in these streets. He was a true mentor. Guess it really be the people closest to you that do you dirty.

"Let's say you do shoot me..." I continued, fixing my exposed self and propping up against the cold wall, trying to catch my breath. "What do you think will happen to you? Dylan ain't no pussy, dawg. All hell's gonna break loose."

Phil chuckled lightly and shook his head. "Y'all youngins really think y'all gangsta, huh? He won't even see me coming, you damn sure didn't. I taught y'all motherfuckers every fucking thing! And why? Because Karin said we're all a family, that we gotta look out for one another. But since you met your bitch ass daddy you seem to have forgotten where your loyalty lies playboy."

I huffed, breathing out restlessly. Phil had his gun pointed directly at me, clearly showing that he wasn't playing around. How the fuck was I gonna get myself outta this one?

Amber's small cries made me eye her frail stature. She was scared shit and that was completely understandable. Although she too was in a dangerous game, she ain't never been around nothing like this. I took care of her in the foster home, and I was going to take care of her now. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and I glanced back at Phil.

"Let her go." I instructed. "Let the men talk, one real man to a bitch ass one."

Phil smiled. "Done."

He nodded at Amber and she rose, only to dig into his pockets, taking out at least two bands. She looked back at my confused face, smiled weakly and whispered "Sorry Chance" before dashing out the alley. That dumb bitch.

"You should see the look on your face right now." Phil laughed, gripping the gun tighter, keeping his aim fixed. "Easy pussy ain't always good pussy. Didn't I teach you that?"

"Indeed."

Phil and I jumped, as Ruben's voice boomed from the other side of the alley and he appeared out of nowhere.

"You taught him well. Thank you for your services." Ruben continued.

Bud and Lou emerged from the opposite side of the alley, sneaking up on Phil. As Lou confiscated Phil's weapon, Ruben approached Phil slowly, making direct eye contact. Phil cursed uncontrollably and his facial expression was unexplainable. I wouldn't quite say he was frightened, but he was alarmed and submissive even.

"Little brother." Phil murmured. "What a surprise."

"Shut the fuck up." Ruben responded. "Chance, get your ass in the car. It's out front."

"Ah..." I stammered.

"Now!" Bud, Lou and Ruben shouted.

Relentlessly, I got up. But not before staring at my father and Phil to find some form of resemblance. Brother? What the fuck was going on here?

Bud pushed me along, making sure I was going where I was supposed to. Jumping in the passenger seat of the Range, I grabbed some tissue from the glove compartment. It was the only thing I could find, so I dabbed my head to control the excessive bleeding.

I groaned in annoyance as I briefly remembered the real reason I came back to the hood. Chanel must be so mad, I'm sure the vein on her forehead was about to pop out.
